Nelson is highly talented and skilled in many different techniques of painting. He is a great teacher and I would urge anyone to try his art classes. You will see a great improvement in your technique whether you are a beginner or master, he always has something new to teach you! He really gets to know you and tailors his teachings to what you are hoping to achieve. I cannot recommend enough!

Nelson is a fantastic teacher and true artistic spirit. He is thoughtful and considered in his teaching approach, going above and beyond to help each member of his classes. His knowledge of art history is massive and you'll hear insights on subjects you knew nothing about, always aiding in your art journey.

What I find particularly impressive is his ability to adapt to the varying skill levels of his students, speaking in fundamental terms that newbies can understand and without skipping a beat tune in to more advanced students. These discussions are useful to listen to whatever your skill level is.

Nelson is an approachable, encouraging and highly skilled artist himself, you'll feel you're working under a classical teacher pulled out of art history!

Nelson is an exceptional painter and an invested teacher. I had the invaluable opportunity to attend his classes in London. Nelson's enthusiasm about painting is not only visible in his creations (which I truly believe will become prized possessions in the near future!) but also in his attitude towards teaching. He is willing to invest time to ensure his students learn proper painting techniques and is mindful of his students' skill levels. I was also surprised to see his proficiency with both classical western and eastern styles of painting (btw his Mughal miniature paintings are amazing!). Considering all other opportunities I have had to learn about painting, Nelson's classes really stand out. Highly recommend!

Choosing Nelson as my art teacher is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was immediately struck by his passion and dedication to not only teaching artistic techniques but to bringing out the best in his students. When you work with Nelson it becomes immediately obvious that he has fully immersed himself in all aspects of his craft. He has an incredible teaching style that weaves strong artistic technique into the science of art, it's history and its emotional connection. It's been over 10 years years since my first lesson with Nelson and he continues to amaze and inspire me. He is someone with alot to teach if you are willing to learn.

" Nelson is inspirational and knowledgeable, and he makes the learning fun. The museum and art exhibition day trips make it enjoyable, and fellow students get to know each other in a hospitable atmosphere. There is a class student exhibition to look forward to every term, so come join.

Nelson is an incredibly talented artist and his artwork is stunning! But what’s more, Nelson is also a brilliant art teacher, something that is quite rare. I took oil painting classes with Nelson at Saatchi gallery in London and learnt so much from him over the short period of time. He is very passionate about teaching art and success of his students, patient and always has enough time for every student. I can highly recommend his classes as they are by far the best I have had in London.

We all have memories of those teachers that inspire our love for a particular subject, making into that subject into a constant source of enjoyment and passion. Nelson is one such teacher! I believe he offers the best classes in classical painting and drawing in London. His only weakness is that he doesn't market himself enough.

He is not just a superb teacher, but a brilliant artist as well.He is a true master of the western traditions who is also learning eastern techniques.

Incredibly happy that I chose to take his classes, for not only did it awaken a love for me in my subject, but also helped me get a dear friend for life

I started classes with Nelson a few years ago, I painted at school but had a 10 year gap and didn't know quite how to start again. I think I've done four sets of classes now with Nelson and if you want to see what I'm painting now, you can look at my instagram @rachel.of.london - I credit Nelson with a huge amount of my inspiration and improvement.
I'd recommend his teaching both for absolute beginners and for more experienced painters too, so long as you want to learn how to paint. He also handles large classes very well and finds time for everyone.
He's an amazing teacher, very generous in sharing his insight and so knowledgable about different academic painting techniques and the history and technicalities of art. I'd be quite happy just to listen to him talk about painting, but really the proof is in the quality of work that his students produce!
