I love this little gem in Canterbury. If you are visiting and come from the bus station head down towards Westgate towers at the very bottom of the high street, you can’t miss Westgate towers! It looks like a little castle at the end of Canterbury! From there cross the road and you will see the river in front of you, head left following the path through the gardens to see beautiful scenery, a special 200 year old Plane tree, the oldest in the country! And a beautiful riverside walk that takes you for miles (if my you want to go that far!)
In spring/summer you can take a gondola ride along the river stour, this is a nice way of seeing the river, learning some history and an opportunity to take some lovely photos.
For a nice little rest stop as you enter the park and turn left there is a lovely little tea shop that serves a range of drinks and snacks.
I like coming here on my work breaks to just sit among the flowers and watch the river and wildlife in the sunshine.

It's beautiful garden with one small clean river aside with very clean water.
Garden has amazing different colorful flowers, which are maintained very well. Best place for any kind of photoshoot as well. Must visit place if you haven't visited yet.

Lovely place to chill and enjoy the lovely flowers, canals , ducks and etc ….. the views to the tower west gate are fantastic….. the architecture is just simple stunning. Bad part you can have many drunk people drinking alcohol since 8am.

Amazing garden beautiful and well kept. A lovely breeze when sat next to the river. And you can see Westgate towers as well. Very happy and chilled atmosphere

Even though I visited the Westgate gardens on a hot day, in the middle of the summer, the park was very pretty. A nice stroll alongside the surprisingly clean water offered a nice getaway from the busy streets and shops.

I can only imagine the beauty of this place during the spring after a good wet winter.

Stunning gardens and a lovely walk along the River Stour. The water is crystal clear. You can be taken on a punting trip along part of the river. There is also a tearoom that serves refreshments but not always open. Even during the hosepipe ban the gardens were so pretty.

These Gardens are located at a 5min walking distance from the Cantebury West Railway station, right next to the West Gate. Punting is also available there. Some birds, lovely houses around and option to do cycling. I can say its a nice Garden but not very special for which you one has to specially plan and go. If you have good time then definitely visit it.

Beautiful gardens, always a lovely walk to Toddler Cove from here. Every time I come here I see a group of ducks either in the river or sitting on the side, it is such a calming place.
