We had a lovely day out in Winchester today and parked in the Brooks car park. Up to 4 hours is just over a fiver. We were 4 hours and 30 minutes in town (a good amount of time for lunch, some shops, trip to the park etc.). To our surprise we were charged £15 because we were over 4 hours! Horrendous jump in price and we feel stupid for not checking before parking. The shopping centre is half empty and this is no way to get shoppers to come back. Lovely day in Winchester slightly marred by the greedy parking charges here.

This is a small double level underground car park ideally located in the centre of Winchester under the Brook Shopping Centre. Tight entrance and exit lanes, so inexperienced or less confident drivers may wish to avoid. Ticket and barrier system, pay on exit. This car park could have earned more stars but for one thing. The prices. Rates are charged by the hour and increase by the hour up to 4 hours, which is £5.80. Steep but just about acceptable, I suppose, given the central location. However... over 4 hours is a whopping £15.00!! As I'd been there for 4 and half hours, I had no option but to pay. It took the edge off an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable day.

Small shopping centre with lot's of closed stores. Parking entrance and exit are quite narrow so be careful if you have a slightly bigger car. For about 2 hrs I paid just over £3.

Very small and cramped, both in the actual, parking spaces AND the exit. People often have to manoeuvre round a sharp left turn immediately after the exit barrier.
And WHY not parking app like Ringo or similar permitted?

Very tight car park indeed. Narrowly fits cars with a height restriction of 1.9m. Would not recommend to anyone.

Awful car park - spaces far too narrow to park a medium sized car in. I can't imagine what the designers of the place were thinking of. AVOID!

Horrendous to get out of, unclear. You get stuck on lower level with the fear of no escape, when you fo realise how to get out you then have to drive out and back to the main queue to get in again. It is not easy nor obvious how to even begin to ammend these issues. Though a way back up a level without completely starting outside again would ve something to improve plus a 30 ticket parking delay would be helpful instead of 15 if you get stuck k in a queue around the CP for longer but can't pay you dint get stuck.
There were no obvious signs showing the card machine wasn't working. So when we did decide to leave the 15min leeway on the ticket to park was now overdue I'm stuck at the barriers to get out. I'm now frantically pacing to get to the machines to pay just so I can get out. I got to the machine and it said on it that card payments currently unavailable. I only had card and was still parked at rhe barrier to get out.

It is a car park and close to the city centre.

Some people have raised the issue that it can get a bit cramped, but it has not been that crowded when I have used it. I do concede that the amount of space between cars has been narrow.
