Lovely spot right alongside the River Dee. Probably busy at weekends from walkers, swimmers, fishing and canoe / kayak and paddle boarding from the beach. Fortunately we arrived mid-week for canoeing, with a number of spaces left. The parking area isn't far from the water's edge for carrying a canoe. If you're here for a walk, the riverside path leads either way alongside the Dee.

We travelled upstream away from Chester, with not much of a current either way. Beautiful tree-lined scenery with plenty of wildlife to look out for. We spotted an American Mink and Buzzard while we were there. Around two miles South of the put-in, we explored a small tributary - Coddington Brook. Nice little diversion.

Well worth a visit, but be prepared to wait your turn for a parking space (reasonable turnover though).

Small car park, very popular with boaters and paddle boarders, easy access to the water if you climb the downstream stile. No ferry there any more, long gone.

We have been coming here for many years and is such a beautiful place to go to for walks with our dogs.
It is very popular for swimming and kayaking .
However this evening I have come away from there feeling very sad and disappointed.
Today has been a beautiful day People want to enjoy the sun but there are a minority who have left boxes of rubbish on the riverbanks and unbelievably there was a large group of people having bbqs with no regard to anybody else.
Which given the recent fires in some areas because of the hot weather and given the potential dangers is completely negligent
I would ask anyone visiting Ecclestone Ferry to treat it with the love and respect it deserves.

Parking for a few cars but get there early as a popular place for those who love it here. Very good for kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing and swimming. Also lovely for dog walking but there are ducks and wildlife.

A very popular destination for kayaking, paddle boards and dog walking..
If you want a day on the river, get there early to get a good speck. There's a swing gate and fence to lift kayak over. Then easy access to the river. Head right towards Farndon and left to Chester. Watch out for horseflies!! 😬

Busy carpark and can be difficult to get parking spaces. It's a popular free carpark for walkers and canoeists because it's beside the river Dee.
