Used to love this place but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth by discriminating against National Trust members by charging for parking. No other visitors have to pay and £5 for 2.5 hours/£10 for more is excessive and means you don’t really have time to enjoy the whole place without paying for a full day. The staff attempts to justify this makes you feel like they think they are doing you a favour. Give it a miss if you’re NT!

Spacious and easy access. Beware,
NT members must pay. Bus comes
right into the carpark for those going
to Haywards Heath.

I am a National Trust member and got a timed slot to get into Wakehurst Place.
Long Queues to get in with only 1 person checking tickets to allow you to gain entrance. 25 min wait...

Queues for the Shop or Toilets/Exit.

No signs to inform members that you don't have to go through the shop to get your car park ticket paid you can use the Toilets/Exit to get your Car Park ticket paid.
A lot of people were queuing for the shop to get the car park ticket paid because it stated on the sign at the Entrance that you must get your Car park ticket paid via the shop..
It only needs a small sign at the exit to inform the public that you can get your car park ticket via the Toilets Exit as well.

Very Expensive Parking fees and I won't be going there again not very organised..
Disappointed from Horsham...

Beautiful, but big and hilly... Make sure you are prepared for some long walks, steep hills and inaccessible (not disabled friendly) paths for those with particular special needs. There are alternative routes but these are longer and sometimes steeper. The car park charge for NT members is a bit annoying too.

Well laid out with signs to new temporary entrance of the gardens. Good sized spaces and parking charges included in entrance ticket (if paid for). NT members get free entrance but do pay for parking (still cheaper overall).

We had a lovely day exploring. Some paths were closed and as first timers we couldn’t find all the bits we were looking for but it’s a beautiful place.

We hoped to have lunch there but there were crazy queues for the stables so we promised the kids we’d go back later. Unfortunately both the stables and visitor Centre cafe closed early and there was no where to buy food or drink.

I’ve given it 2 stars as we feel completely fleeced for parking as National trust members. We were charged £10 and we were only there half a day.

Wakehurst - beautiful place for nature lovers. It is worth taking a longer walk. A friendly place for families with children. If you prefer solitary walks, choose rather on a weekday.
