A wonderful, peaceful oasis of calm - great for birdwatching. I do wish the general public would: A. Keep their dogs on a lead - there are rare ground nesting birds (Nightjar & Woodcock) in the area & dog can & do disturb them. This against the Wildlife and Countryside Act. B. Pick up their dog's faeces & take home or put in the bin. Otherwise, outstanding.

Costs more than parking in Woking, not exactly encouraging people to get out and about!

Ideal quiet place to park for access to walkways on the common.

I "liked it" because it's a very convenient place from which to start a walk. However, the surface, especially under the entrance barrier, is uneven. Not good for low slung cars! Also, there are no rubbish bins, which would have been nice and would have encouraged people to throw their rubbish away properly, especially the doggy walkers who pick up their dogs' poo but then sadly just leave the plastic bags littering the place 😰. There is an unofficial memorial to someone who died there, I presume killed on the road, although I am just guessing....

Update Feb 2021: the unpopular parking fees have been suspended, and due to be replaced by voluntary payment later in year

2019: Lovely peaceful place for a walk, but the car parks are no longer free, which is a real pity @ £1.30 ph. I can understand organisations like SWT needing to raise money to continue their important work, but this seems a little steep for no facilities other than off road parking
