It's in a convenient location and is good for people with wheelchairs. However, the regular spaces are very tight and there are no parent/child bays. There is another car park nearby that may offer these bays but I've never used it so couldn't say. Failing that you can try the streets off Holton road but make sure you double check parking signs. One of them seems to confuse drivers and they end up with fines.

Back to the library car park, I'm not sure what time it's supposed to open in the mornings but I've driven by at 9:10am and the barrier has been locked. I'm sure it should be around 9am and perhaps on these occasions they were just late lifting the barrier

As for pricing, it's currently free to park there but as the Vale of Glamorgan seem to be on some path to try make things harder for both residents and visitors lately, one of the things they're looking at implementing is charges for the popular car parks. I know there are talks of having a free period of parking which will hopefully mean people can still enjoy going to the shops. Just be mindful that what is free at the moment won't necessarily still be free in the near future

Free parking in a town centre!!! Next to a great play area if you have young children.

How does the Vale Council expect to attract visitors and shoppers to Barry? Free parking is the least they could provide another tax on personal transport. Perhaps they don't want visitors in the town centre? Does long term plans show housing not shops? High Street doesn't have parking fees.

If you park here even for the free 2 hours you have to get a ticket from the machine.

Two hours free parking but still have to get a ticket. Charging for more than two hours means there tends to always be a space in this car park. It's perfect for most people as not many spend more than two hours in the town centre. There's plenty of free parking around if you want to park for longer as well, just requires a bit more of a walk.

Free for the first two hours. Clean, free public toilets nearby. Great if heading to the shops/city centre. But not ideal for tourist wanting the beach or to see the Gavin and Stacey sites
