First of all my daughter was not allowed to see the pharmacist because it was ten minutes past 5 and all consultations with the pharmacist must be before 5 the reason being... wait for it it takes 15 mins to process any prescriptions after that and of course they close at half past 5! Really shows theyare not willing to go the extra mile for their customers.
Secondly I was therefore advised to return the next day (before 5 of course) and my 7 year old daughter would be able to see the pharmacist then, so I did but when I got there the pharmacist was only a trainee and did not have the level of training to prescribe medication in this instance. Don’t get me wrong I know everyone needs to train and gain experience but this should be overseen by a pharmacist on the premises who is fully trained to prescribe medicines without a prior appointment at their GP. When I questioned this and expressed by frustration that I had been given ill advice to return on a day when it was only a trainee pharmacist present I was met by an apology and quickly followed by we did not advise you to come to us first rather than bothering the GP. This to me is an establishment that clearly is not in synch of trying to lessen the workload of GP’s nor meet customers needs. Very disappointing! Having said this I walked down the road to Boots and was met with excellent customer service. Even at half past five closing time the pharmacist lady took the time to print of images to put my mind at rest that the rash my little girl had on her face was definitely not Impetigo. This was so reassuring and a display of an establishment willing to go that extra mile. Now will definitely be registering for all my perceptions to go to Boots!
