Carters Picture Framers - Crouch End

I have had them mount two different posters, and they did a terrible job with both. I assumed the first time was just a one-off mistake (which they fixed after I pointed it out), but they did a terrible job with the second one, so it's clearly a problem with quality control. The backing board and framed part were cut slightly different sizes, so the edges are not even and don't meet exactly and thus are obviously bigger or smaller on various parts of the edge. Also, the backing was not affixed properly so it simply fell apart when I got home. Avoid them, or at least inspect their work carefully before you leave the shop.

I have bought glass panes and had various pictures framed here over the years, but my last purchase will be my last after a frustrating experience. Twice I have brought pictures home to find pieces of brown paper left inside the glass so they are not inspecting their work and wrapped so fast for me to take away I couldn't spot it myself in time. I have had pictures framed in the wrong frames and not laid out as explained multiple times, quotes not as requested, and poor communication that's meant I have gone in multiple times to collect an order by arrangement to find the pictures have not been done. Tried calling and emailing with little or no effect. The staff here seem distracted and are making silly avoidable mistakes. Annoyed because it seems like a great local business I'd like to support, but I won't be going back.

Carters have been framing things for me for years. I return because of the quality of the results and their unflagging helpfulness. Recently I asked them to frame a picture for my niece. She was so delighted she asked to frame another picture for her, choosing to transport it from South to North London.

Reasonable prices and extremely helpful service - I have used Carters 4 or 5 times and have been impressed by their suggestions about what frames and colours would work best. The price is always fair and the item ready for collection on time.

I have been using Carters Glass for over 20 years as their framing - from suggestions, execution, service and pricing - has always been excellent. Even though I moved out of the area several years ago, I still return to them.
