We would recommend sterling plumbing to anyone and everyone and can't thank you enough for such a great service!!
Would award zero stars if I could. I have used Sterling Plumbers for a number of small jobs over the last years and have always been happy with the work, so I felt no hesitation about choosing them for our first big job - renovating two bathrooms.
Neil recommended that he work on both bathrooms at once as it would "be quicker", but what followed was 10 weeks of having both bathrooms unusable and having our home filled with building waste (3 full transit vans worth when they finally picked it up 2.5 months later!). The waste was piled in multiple rooms as well as along hallways - if we had had a fire or any emergency it definitely would have been a hazard.
During the 10 weeks, Neils "project management" involved visiting just 3 times - once to yell at one of his subcontractors and leave after 10 minutes, and twice at the end to find all the mistakes that should have been checked for as the work was being done
Despite the time it took, the work completed was still of low quality and issues we experienced included:
- Water damage to both rooms below the bathrooms - including a full flood to one room!
- Unblocked waste pipes for a month and a half - a great smell all summer
- Sinks plumbed in incorrectly and leaking sink pipes
- Creaking shower trays and a shower drain that no longer drains (maybe because of all the rubbish we saw people throwing down there?)
- Chips in our floors and scratches on our walls
- Chips and scratches to the new toilets and baths
- Generally poor project management - a huge number of times we were told to wait in for people who never turned up (not to bad for a 2-3 week job, but over 10 weeks felt a lot like lockdown again!) or subcontractors all being arranged for wrong times so they couldn't work (the poor electrician had to turn up 5 times because he was repeatedly called in before he could work)
To his credit, Neil did fix most of these issues, although some still remain that he is refusing to fix. As with one of the other critical reviews, Neil did actually ask for money before fixing these issues, although did back down when challenged on it. Given that he is unwilling to fix the remaining issues, I'll be needing to get a proper plumbing firm in to do the work he should have done - shame I didn't do that at the start!
PS - I've seen on a few of the other critical reviews Neil has replied claiming the work wasn't his or the criticism was unfounded. I have got photos and videos of all of the above and will add if there is any question on this review
