Fair Oak Post Office

Posting this so everyone is aware. Post office not open until 5:30 as advertised. Just been told they have decided to close at 4pm because of lockdown! But the rest of the shop is still open, so what is their reasoning? How does this help the huge amount of people who are still working during 'lock down' ? Just means there will be a massive queue on Saturday morning!!!!

Opened late then their system wouldn’t start up, Lin eventually gave me my parcels using a manual process, a smile wouldn’t hurt and shouting Thank you! up the isle when I was walking out shows the level of service training we are dealing with here. My advice would be to check systems prior to opening instead of standing in doorways talking about working for Tesco’s with your colleague and send Lin on a customer service course.

Went to pick up a parcel - The Post Office worker walks off when I walk up to the desk. Then returns a couple of mins later with a cup of tea. Which I thought was rude - she could have said "Give me a minute, just getting a drink as I haven't had a drink or a break in an hour". You know - that sort of communication that goes a long way...

On her return, she has a little chat with a colleague and then aknowledges that I'm there for the first time. Then there is about a 30 second search for my parcel - she tells me it isn't there and that the post office address I gave her was the other post office in Fair Oak.

So I go there - it isn't them!

I go back to this one. I'm a little annoyed (I'm a key worker - I get up at 5am and it was 5pm and work is quite tiring and stressful at the best of times - nevermind with Covid 19, so I'm annoyed at this waste of time). I tell her that the other post office isn't the right one and that the parcel is here. Without looking again, she says it isn't, so I look on my Phone and it says it is.

"I'm not being spoken to like that from someone like you!" (which I thought was rude - I was annoyed, but I didn't shout, I didn't swear and I didn't say anything personal and what does "someone like you" mean? So now she gets personal and behaves rudely.

After telling her that she just sent me on a bike ride around fair oak when I had much better things to do with my time she tells me "You could do with the exercise".

When I told my wife and described the PO worker, she had a few examples of her poor customer service skills too. Rude, shouting and not very curteous. If I behaved that way at work, I wouldn't be a key worker for much longer...

Think I'll take my post office requirements to the other post office in Fair Oak. They were far more curteous and helpful. Wanting to see my email, checking their boxes and even apologising!

Shockingly bad service . . . the advertised opening times do not match the times they choose to open or close. I've wasted so many journeys to use this service and have arrived to be told they decided to close early again - today the lady behind the counter wouldn't even speak to me to tell me where the nearest Post Office was for the service I needed . . . she just kept shouting "WE'RE CLOSED!" through the blind she had pulled down.

Went to post parcel last week, sign changed saying post office only open on Mondays & Tuesdays. Went this morning, sign changed again saying post office open Monday 1.30pm-5.30pm, Tuesday open all day but closed at lunchtime!!! What kind of service is the post office providing here?? Suggest finding another venue to provide a proper postal service. Had to go into Eastleigh to use a professional service. Would definitely NOT recommend this particular venue.

Incredibly rude staff. While waiting in the queue the older female staff member is friendly with all the older customers and then cold and blunt with myself. I dread having to use this post office. I asked for clarification about a message on the glass and her response was “read me the message on the window” “do you know what that means?” So condescending, how this woman works with customers astounds me. To reiterate other reviews, as well as the staff being vile, it’s rarely open and service is painfully slow.

Very rude staff, would not recommend.

I’ve just gotten back from a very unfortunate experience trying to send a package to America. The woman behind the counter was extremely unfriendly and was not welcoming to any questions around increasing the insurance on the product.

After I was finished filling out the customs form, the lady informed me to go to the back of the queue but luckily the people in the queue were very nice and refused to let her send me to the back.
