Colchester Post Office

This is undoubtedly the worst post office in the whole of Britain! Possibly even the planet actually! Never in all my life have I seen anything like the devoid, badly managed, persistently staffless carnage here!! Appauling would be giving it too much credit! Avoid this place like the plague!

I visited here recently in order to post a card to America.

Firstly our letter didn't fit easily through the small letter slot, so we told the older lady serving us that we'll return - our intention was to rewrap the card to make it smaller. But then we realized it was the Sunday followed by bank holiday, so we went straight back to the counter to pay the higher price.

She first told the girl she was training that we were wasting their time. We laughed because we thought she was joking - it later became apparent that she wasn't. She then asked my partner what it contained, to which he replied "a card". It was quite obviously a card. She then asked "what is really in there?", while rolling her eyes and staring at my partner accusing!

I haven't decided yet, I might raise a complaint. If you enjoy being insulted when using their services, then I can't recommend this post office highly enough!

Extremely understaffed! Lost my tracked and signed letter! Terrible experience every time :( BAD costumer service or should I say NO costumer service onsite! It is definitely not an office anymore more like a 'post kiosk' within other shops.

Understaffed all the time and always a massive queue! You will spend a long time waiting to be served, needs improvements and more staff

A huge thanks to Dan M at the Colchester main post office today. There was a huge queue and just him! He multi tasked, he was polite and courteous to customers whilst under enormous pressure. Never be rude to the staff who actually turn up! Thank you Dan, what an asset to the Post Office you are - I hope you got to eat your lunch! Especially as I found out you’re diabetic. Look after your staff better Post Office!

Easy to find, quick service, very pleased!

It was a quick service! Not used to self service checkout at the post office but the staff were helpful.

Went to post a parcel this morning and service was fantastic! There was about 10 people in the queue in front of me so I expected to be waiting a while but was out within 10 minutes. The two people working were really efficient, friendly and clearly working hard.
