The City's best kept secret! A huge and multi-floor library (with public access to computers) and lots of comfortable chairs and coffee tables. It overlooks what appears to be a man-made pond and this adds to the tranquility from the hustle and bustle (and traffic noise) of The City. There are also a couple of eateries and bars within the building, and outside tables next to the pond and so you can sit with a drink and just soak up the tranquil and relaxing environment.

Has been working in City for a year, this is the first time I visit here. Hidden gem in London, you can enjoy the books, the architecture of Barbican centre, food and lots of events. Strongly recommended!

The excellent music library is a bonus.

Pleasant experience to be had here with listening desks, piano practice and many other things you won’t find in your average library. Staff did give us dirty looks coming in which was off putting but it’s easy to get over. Worth coming here for the beauty of it alone.

I love this library, it’s small and cozy, even if the selection of books is modest. The small issue is that it’s at the same time a kind of nursery; crying babies, toddlers running around and mummy’s talking super loudly sometimes makes it a difficult environment to actually read.

An amazing library, with an excellent study place. Great food downstrairs, and you could easily spend a day reading, searching or studying.

Multiple desk areas and seats available to sit down, read etc.
