Tried to leave our tenancy early due to a job redundancy- suggesting that we find new tenants to take on the property until the end of our lease and cover costs until they move in. Was told an outright "NO". Eventually Forebury agreed- if we either paid £700 advertising costs or found someone ourselves to take on a full new lease for a year- not just run the course of our lease. Found suitable tenants who they properly referenced. Had a ludicrous refurbishment list spring on us afterwards- despite the property being fully refurbished 8 months prior and still being immaculate. Carried out requests on said list- see photo of list- gave keys back. New tenants were desperate to move in and their referencing and paperwork was complete, but Forebury insisted on delaying it by two weeks to "tie up end of tenancy matters" - at a cost of £750 to us whilst we had no access to the property. We were advised that if we did not agree to this they would pull the plug on new tenants moving in. So we were over a barrel. My husband and I have rented for over 10 years previously in London and are also landlords, and we both agree that we have never dealt with such a difficult and unprofessional company, nor would we ever behave this way towards our tenants if they found themselves in this situation. They also made us pay over £400 for a new shower tray that had slight marks on it from drain cleaner. This whole unfortunate episode was a total nightmare, Forebury did everything they could to cause us as much stress and upset as possible- they are a vile bunch of shysters.

Worst estate agents I have ever encountered. Ridiculous admin fees, they refuse to fix problems with their rental properties, outrageous leaving fees and total rudeness and unprofessionalism from day one. Well known within the area as being a very unpleasant bunch of people, bordering on the criminal. Please don't even consider renting from this company - you will regret it.

Do not use the Foreburys. Their houses are lovely and they come across fantastic until the end they leave a v bitter taste in your mouth. Their tent is extaustionate!!! While living in one of their houses I treated like our home looked after it well. About 8months before we left I had locked myself out with my baby and dog on a winter morning, they live and work in the same place (where the spare keys are) I called for them to help they said if I wanted the spare key I would have to call the maintenance guy out (and pay for his over time) or get a lock smith out... just awful and money grabbing! When we come to leave we had the most ridiculous list of things to do before leaving (that since when I've spoke to other people in the industry are shocked) We had to redecorate the whole house, clean carpets, cooker, do the garden, clean the wondows inside and out, clean the guttering, the list goes on. We had a decorator in and professional to do the oven (invoice left for them to see) When we handed the keys back a day later we got a huge email, painting not up to standard, oven clean not up to standard again the list went on and we lost a lot of our deposit. Now if they were in the real world and worked leagally, they shouldn't have been able to deduct for the things that we had don't professionally. We have legal professionals in the family we did debate whether to take it further but have decided again as we are sure if this word keeps going round they will lose business forbeing so unfair. Very sad as had a lovely 4 years in the house and made lots of memories that they have now tarnished!!!!

I fell in love with one of Forebury Estates properties in 2018, the flat is situated in Bell St, Sawbridgeworth which is a perfect central location for all shops & a 10 minute walk to the train station. It was so beautifully decorated, finished to a high standard and the view from the beautiful floor to ceiling sash windows, just wow! Safe to say, I just could not move in!
As a first time renter, I cannot recommend Forebury Estates enough. Nicola in the office was so helpful with everything from showing me around the property in the beginning to providing advice with the renting applications & also during my tenancy at the property, she was always courteous & quick to report any maintenance issues in the property - always small things like light changes or replacements of ceiling lights, these would be sorted in the same day or if not within 24hrs. I always felt I could give the office a quick call at any time if there was anything I needed help with or was unsure of. During the tenancy, Forebury Estates always gave plenty of notice if any access was required to my property for routine inspections or any fire alarm testing which was always very helpful.
I gave my notice of terminating the tenancy and was advised the property would need to be in the same condition as it was when I moved in aside from minor wear & tear, which in opinion is more than fair, the property was so beautiful & completely immaculate on the day I moved in, all that was asked that it should be the same. I hired a decorator to paint the property & had the property professionally cleaned as well as the oven & carpet. My full deposit was returned, as promised.
Due to covid-19 & loss of employment, it is with great sadness that I am no longer a tenant with Forebury Estates otherwise I am absolutely certain I would still be in the beautiful property I fell in love with! I have had nothing but a positive experience & happy memories in my first rental property. Thank you, Forebury Estates!

In 2019 I rented a one bedroom Flat with Forebury Estates, it was my first time doing anything like this and I just left home.
Forebury Estates guided my partner and I through the process with kindness and professionalism. The property was absolutely beautiful and the service we received was nothing short of superb.
Any issues I had were resolved same day if not next day. I never felt like "just another tenant"
Apon moving out we were simply asked to leave the property in the condition we found it. We hired a cleaner for the oven and did some painting ourselves. We received our deposit back in full and shook hands.
My wife and I cannot recommend Forebury Estates highly enough and hope to use their services once again later this year!

Sadly google wouldn't allow me to score them zero stars as that would be to high for this bunch of crooks, anybody thinking of renting from fore bury estates should avoid them at all costs, the shipmens are the worse people alive to date, we had put our bins out a day early and we was slapped with a legal letter from there plastic lawyers, a few months later Ian shipman then attacked my Mrs while pregnant. Before you rent from them go and speak to all the locals and see that the reviews really don't do them justice.
