In contrast to the previous reviews, our experience with Ginger has been overwhelmingly positive. The flat is reasonably priced and the move-in process was straightforward (and they did take a detailed inventory!). Adam, the manager, is friendly and easy to deal with. On the very few occasions we have had a problem with something in the flat, Adam has arranged to have it fixed the next day with absolutely no hassle. The flat is close to the agent’s shopfront on Holloway Road. Adam is always in when I walk past, so getting in touch in person or via email is never a problem. Would happily recommend to others.

I've was in a flat of the last 18 months that was managed by Ginger Lettings. Throughout my time there, I've found them to be as helpful as they can be and but did occasionally suffer from delays in things being done. That said, overall I found them to be professional from the outset and when things were delayed, they would always explain why and do everything in their power to speed things up. Always happy to help, pleasant and I didn't find there to be any issues when trying to reach somebody in their office. Adam would always either email me or call, just to make contact, even if he had no news on progress. Overall, I was happy with the way things went throughout my tenancy and the service I got from them. I'd be happy to recommend them and approach them again if need be.

Small letting company, but very responsive, and effective. I rented during one year through Ginger Lettings for a 1 bedroom flat in Barnsbury. The neighbors agreed that the company was very quick to reply to any request or emergency (leaks, broken locks, etc.). Concerning the payment and the return of the deposit, not worries at all.

Avoid doing business with Ginger Lettings. Prompt to arrange viewings and draw up tenancy agreement and to urgent issues in the flat, but general responsiveness ends there. Non-urgent maintenance requests took weeks to months to be seen to due to their understaffed maintenance team, and any maintenance is done on the cheap - reoccurring issues with water damage from a neighbouring flat that was simply painted over instead of fixed; mould in bedroom caused by structural damp was painted over; intercom system that didn't work at the start of the tenancy was never fixed, despite regular reminders; flat was never registered as an HMO.

We rented a place with Ginger for two years. We always found Adam nice to deal with and responsive to calls and emails. On the few occasions where there were problems with the flat, these were dealt with promptly. Terms of the tenancy were always well communicated and moving out was a smooth process.

Giving these guys 3 stars. The somewhat middling rating is pushed to its upper limits principally due to Adam and James at Ginger Lettings, who, polite and helpful enough, and often with sympathetic emails recognising the absurdity of needing to deny such simple requests, all too often found their hands tied by the absolute t**t of a landlord with whom we held our tenancy.

The landlord in question: Gatetrade Ltd. I strongly advise you do NOT take out a contract with them. An absolute slum landlord that has no regard for the fact that human beings are living in their properties, who only cares about the bottom line and their own checkbook. They will actively seek to cut corners wherever they go and for the rent they charge, are absolutely not worth your time.

Let me stress this firmly: I would rather drag my balls through a mile of glass than I would live in a property owned by Gatetrade Ltd. It would be far less tedious and marginally more pleasurable.

Rented with Ginger Lettings for 3 years and they were really pleasant to deal with. Felt communication at the beginning was difficult - phones usually went to voicemail etc, however this improved by quite a stretch over the course of the tenancy and they were usually very responsive on email. Always followed up repair work when needed, and were very helpful as we drew the tenancy to a close.

My only criticism (which might be more for the landlord than anything else) is that I think they would benefit tenants more if they were more assertive with the landlord on simple repairs and maintenance tasks - for example ensuring the landlord maintained communal areas such as block hallways (I think it was only cleaned twice in the 3 years we lived there and got very grim). We also had floorboards that were buckling by our outside doors and I got the impression the landlord didn’t want to repair it, so in the end it was just nailed back down which was only a short term fix.

Overall though, I’d give 4.5 stars if I could. Very pleasant to deal with.

We rented with Ginger for over 8 years.
Chilled, fair and easy to deal with, Adam the office manager was always good to us.

We particularly appreciated how they managed any maintenance during the pandemic and were highly respectful of the circumstances and our wishes with regards to trades people visiting.

They left us alone for the most part and dealt with any issues we may have had over time swiftly.

Routine maintenance appointments were always scheduled and they always tried to fit around our timings.

Deposit returned swiftly post tenancy.
Friendly and reasonable co all round.
