Exceptional range of reptiles, from frogs to lizards and snakes, all very well displayed and laid out. Very fair pricing too for some unusual and colourful specimens. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly, and offered a great wealth of advice on raising my frogs!

We went here on Sunday just gone.. seemed a lovely shop. Staff seemed okay. We brought some bark chip for our snake. And today when we go to use it and open it.. we found it mouldy this could of been a bad batch or not we not sure, it looked fine in the bag wasnt until we opened it to find it like that, we normally only buy a small bag somewhere else but thought we would have a big from this place to save us going to get 2 different types of bedding. (2 different snakes) but this occasion we thought we try both with same bedding.. to be honest I'm abit gutted but I won't be returning as it was a travel for us too over a hour away from home. Just to give a heads up.

Not really sure why so many bad reviews about the female owner. I have been a customer for a few years and have spent a lot of time and money there the owner and her husband are very nice and are always willing to help the only bad thing was one of the other staff members who was rude to me and refused to help me on the phone as apparently I can just go on Amazon to find what I need. Overall it’s a good shop

They have a good range of animals available and staff were friendly. We were just a little disappointed that it wasn’t the large store shown in all the photos. But they have a nice verity of animals available considering the small store size. I’d just suggest updating the photos to show the new store as we were hoping to see the extra large fish area in the back.

11/2022 update: new smaller store, back to its roots, friendly welcome and echoes of a former glory. Highly recommend a visit, the stores focus is now on an extensive reptile range rather than fish, birds etc etc

2022 update, I am not one for writing negative reviews particularly for local business but recently as a regular visitor I have noticed, particular staff members have become "real grumpy buggers!" I don't visit the store anymore to look or purchase anything. The grumpiness is intolerable for me and I am not the sort to make a scene! It infuriates me because the staff have watched me and my family return for regular visits, purchase things and show allot of support. However, the recent few visits have been negative from a staff customer service point of view and with little kids it's not something I can stomach. My kids never bump or bang on the tanks/enclosures and understand how to behave around reptiles/fish/birds etc. The grumpiness literally sucks the enthusiasm out of the experience. Imagine an excited child looking at a lizard or snake and constantly getting corrected by a staff member on the other side of the rack for pronouncing something incorrectly for context a 4 year old, just kept going on and on or asking a question to a member of staff who is free and you receive a "Grinch face!" I have spent allot of money on livestock and dry goods but, I'm not going to anymore. Sorry guys.... Cheer up !

2020 update, the store just seems to going from strength to strength. Excellent customer service, friendly environment and the usual high quality specimens. They now have a dedicated small domestic pets (cats, dogs, rabbits, birds) section too

Do not be dismayed by the exterior dimensions, the store seems to go on and on! Lots of exotic critters and fish ("particularly rare tank busters!") Worth a visit, lots of helpful staff.

Private car park
Disabled access from rear entrance
Cash, credit card payment available
Friendly staff
Clean and well presented store
Lots of equipment for reptile and aquatic pets
Located in the city centre
Huge indoor tropical pond with red tail catfish and other big tank busters
Wide variety of marine tanks and fish

Lots of rare puffer fish

New layout will gladly travel here instead of pets at home. This shop has a fantastic selection of live foods unlike other pet stores, they have a great range if you have tarantulas or dragons then they have everything you need. Sadly no more fish but they do have a bin with lots of discounted water care products which we dived into. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about all the animals and again unlike other stores will give you the most informative pet care you might need.

Absolutely brilliant place! So many exotics pets in the right environment! How often you see pet shops with incorrect set ups and wrong care is unfortunately to common. However this is an excellent facility. Talking to Mark was a honour, hearing about the rescue pets and how they have changed there life! Also hope all your future plans pay off!
