Excellent food, really very, very good.
On the night we (4) were there I think the staff were under severe pressure, seeming bothered, rushed, forgetful, the legendary 'La Mama' friendliness having the night off.
Too many covers squashed into too small a place (evening, indoors).
Early days, no doubt - as the new team gel, and in-house communication lines strengthen.
Go for the food.
Final meal arrived about 10 minutes later and was incorrect and there was no offer to correct.
He received salad and chips instead of potatoes and veg. He said he wouldn't eat the salad and the man serving suggested the ladies could eat the salad and didn't bring him any veg.
Very disappointing meal as La Mammas was always our go-to place whenever family visited.
If we have to , it would be that too many waitors were serving the same table so were asked by 3 waitors if the food was OK whilst eating and 2 wanting to take dessert orders after each other. But nothing that bothered us and we will definitely come back.
The beer came warm and the hamburger was terible, which despite being large, was filled with a seasoned sauce that took away all the flavor from the rest.
Someone told me the chef has awards, but he doesn't know the basics of a hamburger.
The newly refurbished extension area is much more in keeping with the pubs style.
Plenty of booths for group dining inside and seating outside in the warmer weather - we loved the Reggae festival a few weeks ago with live music and a bbq.
We ate from the newly developed Autumn menu and thoroughly enjoyed the terrine and pigeon for starters and short ribs that fell off the bone (although quite rich) and our very first taste of Venison this year. We chose a Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Port Roasted plums all washed down with a glass of Malbec and a berry infused gin.
The burgers looked great too - maybe next time.
others had various other well prepared and delicious dishes. The service was very good, quick and attentive. It was a very pleasant evening. We used to go to the old La Mama’s in the house up the road and that was good, I this replacement will live up to expectations.
