However this time I could not fault the service I had received. Our waitress was polite and friendly and despite on the one occasion where we had to goto the maitre D (who was also very excellent and handled an awkward situation created by another member of the public towards myself) I could not fault the experience they had created for my birthday.
Food was fairly swift to our table however the portion sizes were somewhat smaller than anticipated. I requested the mixed grill with my steak to be medium rare and that was perfectly cooked. My gammon was beautiful, sausages were flavourful and my eggs and chips were that of a reasonable standard. Onto my pudding, I ordered the chocolate tart and that was extremely indulging, apparently it was a popular choice and I could most definitely see why!
What made my visit that bit more special was that the staff had surprised me with a mini bottle of bubbly and a card. Little acts of care and kindness like this are the reasons why I review places. If you want to feel that bit more special on your special day I would recommend coming here.
The decor is sleek but friendly with some added flair of style and a nice bar at the side with plenty of seating all round. It is both family friendly and relaxed date vibes. Mostly because of the staff, I will be coming back again! Thank you so much!
Upon arrival we were shown to our table, it then took over 15 minutes to get served.
Myself and my wife both ordered the “smothered chicken burger”, the only thing smothering this burger was sadness with 1 poxy piece of bacon and what looked / tasted like chicken goujons straight out the freezer.
We was never asked how was our meal by the waitress, which is usually courtesy… If anything she looked cheesed off when I politely asked for some Mayo and scowled and then passed me 2 sachets out the drawer.
We also ordered the loaded nachos which were loaded with disappointment… unless there’s a cheese shortage that I’m unaware of, to charge 5 quid for essentially some crisps with next to no cheese is a joke.
We had another reservation booked for this restaurant but we’ve since cancelled this, when cancelling with the manager at the bar we wasn’t asked why, nor did they particularly care why we we canceling. We’ve also cancelled breakfast.
Sums up the whole meal, do better.
