Superb all day modern dining. Parking nearby difficult. Lovely contemporary ambience. Service was courteous and friendly, inspite of there being only 2 waiters. They serve a variety of brunch options until 5pm as well meals to include pizzas, pastas salads, roasts grills and a few traditional mains like fish and chips.
We had burger with sweet potato chips, calzone ( huge) and spaghetti in a rich tomato sauce with prawns. All good.
Would return.

So I've been twice and both times we've had to wait 20-30 minutes for drinks (and usually the drinks that have arrived have been wrong and then I've had to wait another 10 minutes because of their lack of any urgency or clue), both times food orders were incorrect and we were wrongly charged, and there's a bunch of servers with no direction and seemingly not doing much that we've had to actively chase down by walking around the restaurant to tell people that we are still waiting. Oh, and usually the food from the kids menu that we order from for my daughter never actually arrives without me pushing and pushing (like they forget part of the order). It's making sense why it's often not that busy.

I feel bad for the chefs as the food quality is actually good but everything else let's them down. Absolutely rubbish.

Spent the evening here for a few drinks with a friend. I would definitely be inclined to come back, as prices were as you'd expect so close to London, but the decor was lovely and the atmosphere was nice. The place itself is split into a bar area and a restaurant area, so the venue can be what you want it to be depending on the sort of evening you'd like. In a very central location in St Albans as well. Staff were all really friendly and service was quick, even when slightly busier.

On a recent family visit to St Albans.. we were ever so lucky to find The Beech House, to go for food and a few drinks.. I just couldn't believe the friendliness of the staff so helpful so genuine ...the food was absolutely cooked to each of our liking ...and the best part was it was cooked in front of every to see . I have never come across a more spectacular bar and restaurant.. its a credit to management and staff. Hope to visit again in the near future

I have been there twice now and my parents 4 time and I have to say the place has been excellent.

The tables are a really good size, you get a very decent size portion of food which has always been very tasty.

The main thing that stood out to me the most was how easy it was to surprise my mum and dad for one of the meals, very easy and straight forward throughout the whole process.

Would highly recommend this place and will continue to keep going here in the future.

Slighty disappointed with this place. The interior looks lovely and the service was really nice but the food I had wasn’t tasty at all. The chicken wings didn’t have any dip and lacked in flavour. The burger I had was slightly burnt on the outside and dry, also there was hardly any cheese in it. Bacon wasn’t crispy enough. For £17.50 (which I still think is expensive) I was expecting something much tastier.
I will definitely be back for drinks but not for the food I am afraid.

We visited a year ago, after an afternoon visit to our local cinema, we walked in only a handful of tables taken, we went to sit down and without wanting to know what we wanted the waitress said we are fully booked. We said we would never visit again as we felt humiliated as we were clearly the oldest in the restaurant at the time. The only reason I am posting now as I recently heard someone else had a poor experience.

We went to The beech house in St Albans for lunch and the restaurant is lovely and inviting. The Guinness was really nice. We ordered turkey escalope with stuffing and roast potatoes and the lovely fresh tasting pizza, delicious. We had a few problems with little black flies wanting our drinks and one went into our new pint of Guinness but the staff were really attentive and changed the pint without being asked.
The thing that really needs attention is the toilets. Why have you got toilet roll in holders on the floor next to the toilets in both the men's and women's toilets?
It's the most unhygienic place with splash back from the toilets.
Please look into the various repairs that are needed in the toilets to keep it inline with the inviting restaurant.
