Great service. Good pasta and Prosecco. Love the truffle pasta and lasagna. Gnocchi and dessert needs improvement. DJ didn’t work boring tunes and way too loud.

Latteria is a new Italian restaurant in Islington, just down the road from Angel Station. They serve up authentic Milanese food and drinks with their inspiration drawn from the pasticceria, panino shops and pizzeria’s in Milan. Everything is made freshly in house with ingredients sourced directly from Italy.

We visited on a sunny evening so were lucky enough to eat al fresco. The inside of the restaurant matched the outside with vibrant red tones and an Italian diner type feel. The open plan restaurant is filled with natural light creating a summery atmosphere.

They open for breakfast and lunch every day apart from Monday’s and have a later dinner service Thursday – Saturday.

When in Italy….drink Aperol Spritz! (£8.50). We obviously had to have our favourite tipple and it was great of course. There are other Italian themed cocktails such as a Mojito Milan and a wide range of Italian wines and coffees.

Italy is hard to beat when it comes to good food and Latteria certainly represented their country very well.

We started with some Rosemary & Garlic Focaccia (£5) which was crispy and delicious. We also had a Lentil Salad with green apple, cucumber and datterino tomatoes (£8.5). This was a little gem! Such simple ingredients combining to make amazing flavours, which is representative of good Italian cuisine. We particularly enjoyed the fresh apple cutting through the rich lentils.

For our mains we had the Tagliatelle Pomodoro which is served in a classic tomato sauce with fresh basil (£7.50). It is a vegetarian dish which can be made vegan by switching up the pasta. Again, simple ingredients combined to make an amazing fresh and tasty meal.

We also had the Chicken Milanese with rocket & tomato salad and fries (£13). As big as my friend’s head but swiftly eaten of course. The breadcrumb coating was crispy and not at all oily and the chicken cutlet was tender and delicious. The accompanying salad was fresh and tasty and the chips were great.

We were persuaded to try the home made Profiteroles (£5) and we were glad we did. Perfect choux pastry filled with fresh cream and covered in chocolate…heaven!

Latteria is a bright and vibrant Italian restaurant in Islington with top quality food and service. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. A short walk from Angel Station takes you into the heart of Milan! Highly recommended for great food at great prices.

Stylishly designed with Italian retro decor. Excellent chocolate croissants and seating is comfortable. Only issue is when they let the staff choose the music as I don’t think ragga is the right choice....

These guys are amazing! Just opened and they make the best Cappuccino. We had a great experience and looking forward to go back for a proper lunch!

Totally overpriced menu and portion sizes are tiny. They charged £7.50 for this tiny piece of lasagne that was just slopped into the box - if you’re going to present food like that at least put a bit of salad or something to make it look half appetising. It had hardly any meat and to be honest just tasted like a microwave meal. The customer service is also poor, there are lots of staff members, not smiling, who appear to all be doing different things except greeting you or making sure you are looked after. We had to get someone’s attention just to place an order. For a new place they are really not off to a good start.

Very good cacio e pepe and tiramisu.
Friendly Italian restaurant, with a selection of pizza al taglio. Pleasant outdoor space.

This restaurant has absolutely 0 respect for the residents living in the block that they have opened in. Their staff loiter in our garden smoking and throwing the remnants in our plants. They use our residential bins to offload waste as their bins are over flowing which they use our garden as a storage area. While you enjoy the sun sitting on Essex road, residents have to put up with their rubbish strewn about on their front door.

Complete and utter disregard for the community. Don’t waste your time.

Good strong Italian coffee and very friendly service. Food was fine (veggie breakfast) but not spectacular. Really like the outside seating area - you can see they're making a lot of effort to make the place nice.
