Great location in a stunning part of England... The New Forest. Food was pretty good. Haddock fish and chips was a pretty small portion for the price bit maybe that's because I'm used to Cod portions at my local chippie! Drinks were cold. Chicken burger highly recommended. Reason for the 4 and not the 5... Service was a slight shambles. 3 staff doing the clearing, ordering, pouring, you name it. I know times are tough but I just feel the system could have been better organised even with the chronic staff shortage.

The staff were lovely but the food was a massive let down.
Paid £24 for the veggie sharing platter..
• the flat bread was not flat bread, it was slices of stale olive bread, my partner doesn’t like olives.
•the only things that weren’t bought in and straight out of a tub was the roasted veg, which didn’t have an scrap of seasoning on it, and the hummus was handmade and actually very nice.

I was a chef for 7 years, and the lack of love that went into that food was astonishing.

Delicious date night meal in a cute country pub, I had the vegan feta pie and it was fantastic. Partner had the Drift burger and somehow managed to eat a dessert after as well! I don't think I'll need to eat again for at least 18 hours 😂

Friendly service, dog friendly and reasonably wheelchair accessible.

Disappointed visit. Been here several times also stayed at hotel nextdoor and been happy. This time we stopped for lunch ( Just a sandwich ) but were told they were fully booked. Only a couple of tables in the garden were taken. Certainly won't give it another look. Many more friendly places to spend my cash.

The staff were lovely. The food was so overpriced for what you got. Pub has nice garden and lots of space but it took a long time to get served /cheque which seemed strange as it wasn't busy. Just a bit shocked that the tasty terrine starter which was over £10 only came with one thin slice of sourdough. And the veggy hot dog was served in a stale bun that had been toasted to hide the staleness and we didn't get any condiments except mayo, no mustard or ketchup, v weird. Not bad, just not worth the money at all.

Slow service, mediocre food and high prices
This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the holiday let we we’re staying at but unfortunately it did not live up to its billing. The restaurant was clearly short staffed as the chef was doubling up as a waiter and table clearer and we had to wait over an hour for our starters. Personally my main cause was ok but others complained of nearly raw meat and odd tasting beef burgers

Looked like a loverly place to have a roast dinner.
Sadly looking loverly was the only thing going for it.
This is an honest review.
Completely empty at 4pm so no atmosphere, ordered the roast pork but was told only pork belly left, that was no problem until it arrived.
Undercooked pork with jelly like fat for the top, no bigger than half a soap block in size. Roast potatoes were definitely over the 2hour rule in the merry chef! Hard and without flavour. Table spoon of gravy on the plate so every thing was dry and served cold. Seems we were too late for lunch too early for dinner so thrown together what they could. Very dissatisfied but ate as we were starving and everybody else was fully booked in the area.
Then to put nail in the coffin as so to speak a 10% service charge added before you pay. I asked for it to be removed to claw some money back for the dreadful dinner. Service mediocre and not very attentive if asked half way into eating like they should have but didn't we would have told them about our food issues.
Definitely will not return and not recommend to anybody.

Met friends for a dog walk and lunch. Have eaten here many times prior to covid, and always had great food and friendly service. Very quiet only 6 other people eating. Staff friendly and helpful BUT food really bad. Two choices from very limited lunch menu were off the menu. One of our party decided to leave very unimpressed. I ordered the pork which was mainly uncooked fat. No crackling anywhere and very bland. The batter on fish soggy and wasn't cooked inside. The mushrooms on toast was what you got, no spinach, pinenuts or truffle oil as per menu. When we went to pay there was a 10% service charge automatically added which just increased the price of very unedible meal. Certainly won't be visiting again.
