Had the mushroom with sweet miso and buckwheat as small plate, which was way too salty. For the large plate, I had the roasted cod with sweet potatoes, which was really good. The texture of the cod was so soft and the cod was well roasted and fresh. It went surprisingly well with sweet potatoes and chilis.
One thing I do love about Caravan is they labeled calories for each dish on the menu, which is really friendly for people thinking of calories control.
It’s always quite busy, so I’d recommend to make a reservation! But it’s worth putting the effort.
Staff is friendly and very helpful.
I honestly love this place - the interior design brings the New York post factory, loft vibe or industrial London feeling.
I’m not sure if I can answer this question: Is food worth the money?
The restaurant itself was busy on a Tuesday lunchtime in winter with a great atmosphere. Loved the urban decor and space.
Service was efficient and in our group of 4 we all absolutely loved our food. 2 of us had mains and 2 had 2 starters as a main.
All the food was fresh, delicious and great combinations of ingredients that really worked and were well balanced.
Between us we had :
1) Grilled halloumi, braised greens, hung yoghurt, roasted kuri squash, mint pesto, oregano
2) Burnt stem broccoli, charred sweet potato, spiced black bean salsa, green chutney. coconut yoghurt, curry leaf oil
3) Warm smoked mackerel and new potato salad + Jalapeno cornbread, chipotle butter. coriander, lime
4) Burrata, pomegranate and mint pesto, roasted almonds + lamb meatballs, chermoula, aubergine, tahini, labneh, pickled red onion
We always split brunch so that we can taste options. We opted for a chorizo hash with poached egg and vanilla pancakes with poached pear and lemon sauce.
The chorizo hash was bland and basic and the eggs were cold. We felt this was boring and wished we chose better.
The pancakes were delightful and full of flavour (and candidly, a job well done on American style pancakes).
Because we were disappointed, we opted for a slice of the pumpkin loaf with coconut yogurt and it was so yummy!
Also the coffee was really nice and full of flavour.
We were served by a charming man called Janik who couldn’t do enough for us. He knew where all the food was sourced and educated us about Germany too!!! We had a wonderful experience eating here.
