We had the tasting menu and each dish was tremendous our favourites were the Orkney Scallops and the Wiltshire Lamb (the best plate of food I have ever tasted)
We also must mention about all the staff, what a great team Tom has got, his chefs have a nice mixture of experience and youth. All seemed very comfortable talking through each dish with us, very down to earth, made you feel at ease.
Likewise his front of house staff were all very knowledgeable, professional but also had a lovely way of creating a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
Five stars!!!
I highly recommend the wine pairing and tasting menu with the extra cheese course (which I paired with an additional plum sake cocktail-delicious). My partner had a range of cocktails which were equally high in standard and innovation; such as roasted pineapple purées being made in house for an incredible rum cocktail.
This restaurant and the staff have such a wonderful, hospitable family feel to it. I do hope Tom Shepherd continues to delight with carefully curated seasonal menus and can’t wait to be back.
Booked in April for November. It’s worth the wait!
With Chef Tom Shepherd
We first visited Tom's restaurant on his opening weekend in October last year.
We knew we were onto a winner as with any chef coming from experience with @satbains1 is worth following.
A few months after that Tom was awarded a Michelin Star.
Since then it has been quite difficult to get a reservation.
But we managed it in the end.
From start to finish every dish served was delightful.
So difficult to chose a favourite.
The scallop was so delicious and one of the best we've had especially with the satay & coriander.
The star of the show would be the
Fallow deer which was very rich and tasty.
The service was impeccable and our visit was just as good as before.
All we can say is get booked in if you can.
It might get a bit easier as they are currently working on extending the restaurant.
If you like fine dining as we do, you will be hard pushed to find such a finer restaurant in the area.
We were lucky enough to eat at the kitchen table, therefore witnessing the care and passion every dish is cooked with. It was a wonderful dining experience and was a pleasure to hear from the chef how each if the ingredients have been chosen. Highly recommended.
