Liked: We arrived here relatively late on our way through Wales (9pm), the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen was closed (which we had expected) but we enjoyed a nice pint and some snacks.

The site itself was clean and well maintained, with access to showers, toilets, sinks and waste disposal.

Disliked: The pitches are close to the road and a railway line, but we slept pretty well with earplugs and the kids didn't even notice!

Liked: Good pub, amazing meal and friendly and lovely waiting/bar staff, very welcoming.

Disliked: The train track going by right by my tent! Although I know they mention there would be noise, beware camping at the end of the field - that quiet little spot is actually by the train track and my tent shook every time a train came by. Otherwise great!

Liked: OK it's by a busy road & a train track,so we already knew it would be noisy. Not a problem so why complain when you already know like some previous reviews have put. Go somewhere else. The pub itself has a lovely beer garden. We booked a table for 7pm. The food was fantastic. Hot and delicious. I haven't eaten surf & turf for years, my god this didn't disappoint. To make it even better, live entertainment too! She was a cracking singer. Motown, Country I reckon she could sing it all. Her family we there too so it felt very comforting. A fabulous stay. We are thinking of booking a table and driving up on Friday to just enjoy the evening and driving back home we loved it that much.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: Nice place next to the pub. Easy access for us cyclists. Good level camping pitches with handy benches/ tables. Good shower. Clean facilities. Pub was excellent re food, beer and atmosphere.

Disliked: Right next to a railway line. But not busy.

Liked: Looked lovely when we arrived, not over crowded pitches for the campervan/caravan area.
Hard standing with own green space, & garden picnic benches.
Well landscaped with willow trees

There were 2 large wigwam tents for hire, & 2 green pods for hire with there own garden space.

Owners were very friendly.
Bar staff cheerful, & very helpful.
Sunday meal nice.
Lovely garden furniture, & beautiful hills to look at.
Easy to drive into the site.
A popular friendly pub.
Saw a barn owl flying over the site.

Disliked: Although we really liked the site on arrival, unfortunately it was right beside a very busy main road.

Trucks, cars, vans, it was the main road to Shewsbury so it couldn't be helped, but the traffic was constant.

It was difficult to get out onto the main rd from the site.

The train line was on the other side of the field by the tent field, & ran quite often.
So unfortunately it was a very noisy site, no fault of the owners.

We felt the campers toilets outside could be upgraded.
In the shower/toilet/ dishwashing area....
A proper door on the toilet needed, too many gaps to see through.

The refuse bins were confusing, not knowing which were for recycling.
Only one said for cardboard.
If they could label the other bins it would have helped, it was just guess work for us.
We did try to do the right thing, but they were all mixed up.

We're trying to give a fair report of the site.
A lovely site, just unfortunately in the wrong area for us, sorry.

Liked: Lovely pub on site, staff were attentive and helpful. Pitch was nice and level for caravan. Facilities are basic but clean.

Disliked: Next to main road, so could hear some traffic at night/early morning. Not something they can do anything about though, just a thought or if you're a particularly light sleeper.

Could not fault one bit. We're novices with the caravan and were well looked after. Friendly and polite staff, owners made us feel welcome (sorry, I'm hopeless with names) , good drinks choices, excellent food in a beautiful setting. The caravan pitches are well placed and the beer garden must be lovely in summer. Can't wait to visit again in the spring.

We visited on a Sunday at lunchtime with no booking and a dog, as we had been trying to find somewhere to eat on our journey home. Despite this, we were warmly welcomed in and shown to a table straight away. The staff were really lovely and attentive, the food was reasonably priced and delicious (all of our group really enjoyed what we had, including the vegetarian options), and they even brought out a sausage in gravy for our dog, who was delighted. Couldn't have been any better, I highly recommend visiting.
