This was lunchtime, it was Half Term week so busy as ‘kids ate for free’ ? Important to book for lunch. Very helpful staff, modern decor very bright and light. Ate upstairs, everyone happy with their meals. My ‘steak and eggs’ was just the job, nothing special but tasty . Good service. Slightly iffy but ‘vague smell of sewage’ 🤔🤔

Excellent city centre pub that serves a wide range of beers and has good hot food selection with a separate restaurant area. The beer garden is absolutely superb and the best of its kind in Wrexham.

Lovely meal, friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
The vegan range is very limited, only one vegan main on the lunch menu and one that you ask for the vegan version of. The meal I had was very nice, would definitely have again.

This place is certainly unique. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the location alongside the atmosphere is absolutely stunning.
Personally, I would most definitely recommend a table in the upstairs restaurant, not only is it quiet and calm but it also has a decent view.

As for the food, I don't think I could really complain about a thing! I've went with the house burger, which was absolutely delicious, in fact it was that good I found myself lacking my finger tips once I've finished 🤣🤣.
My girlfriend went with the chicken fajitas, and as you could probably tell from the photos, the presentation is simply beautiful, and it was as tasteful as it looked.
One thing we both liked about the fajitas is that you can essentially make it yourself, which at first we thought was silly since, we're paying to not have to do it ourselves at home 😂 but it actually worked out great, she could try different combinations and overall really enjoyed her meal.

You can also probably tell that the portions are good.
I'm 6"8 and that burger was more than filling, in fact half way through I had doubts whether I could finish it or not 😅. As for the fajitas, we didn't manage to eat all of it. But! They take no offence in asking for a takeaway box which I thought was absolutely amazing!! Because we enjoyed the rest of it at home watching TV 😇.

And just to mention the drinks... they were just right 🙏🏼
I purposely ordered a Mojito because I've had the privilege of having some of the best monitors made for me by professional bartenders in countries like Spain, Italy or France therefor I wanted to see how a UK restaurant measures up. And while it wasn't the true "beach side" Mojito, it sure wasn't a bad one. It was worth the £6.

However, the reason I've given it 4* instead of 5*... is mostly boiling down to the menu. While everything else was fantastic, the menu was the first impression we had about what we were having that night, and it wasn't the best impression.
The individual dishes haven't been properly titled so and there wasn't any space between them so when one line ended, another started so I wasn't sure what was what really. Unfortunately I haven't taken a picture of it so I can't show it, but it was a little bit of a mess.
And another critique was that there were no prices on the menu. 😅 I didn't mind paying more because I knew it was meant to be a "fancy" restaurant and I've had £100 set aside for it... but coming in and seeing no prices at all made me feel like they don't want us to know how much we're spending because we might not eat anything 😂😂
But coming to the end and seeing the receipt, the prices were rather acceptable too.
£14 for an absolutely delicious burger?
£16.50 for (basically) a tray of food?
And £12 for 2 cocktails?
That is not a bad price.
Plus they take away the deposit you've paid, off of the total price therefore it's actually not bad at all.
Considering, if I were to compare it to pizza hut, which we like to go to fairly often, we usually leave paying around £55 🤔 so £51 for a really nice experience as well as a delicious meal, I think this place is really good!

Much recommended!

Went last week for the 00's night for birthday. The food was out of this world! Cocktails were lovely and made to compliment each dish. For £32 you can't go wrong!! We failed on our main meals and pudding so brought them home. The fat boar has to be the best place to eat in Wrexham hands down.

Centrally located and with great food and drink choices. Service was excellent with all food and drink arriving well presented in a timely fashion. The very good steak and chicken fajitas were incredibly generous, easily enough for two to share and the hotdog with beer cheese sauce was put together from very superior components. Da iawn diolch!

Lovely gastro pub / wine bar overlooking the cathedral. We had Christmas dinner and it was delicious. Presented well and plate not overloaded. Friendly staff and good drinks menu. Modern interior design and some quirky touches. Very clean facilities - will be back in the New Year.
