The Staff were helpful and polite but unfortunately this place is let down by the amazingly long amount of time it took tk get our drinks and then food once we ordered. I only wanted a Club Sandwich but they must have gone to Studio 54 or Club Med as it took over an hour to arrive. We had to ask 2 different staff members where our food was as the 1st said he'd check but completely disappeared. One of the Burgers we ordered was substandard to say the least. Also the Tables were sticky and the carpet looked as if it had never seen a Vac. It wasn't really that busy so for the food to take as long as it did is a complete mystery. And it's a bit on the pricy side. But I reiterate the staff are helpful and friendly, hence the 2 stars, otherwise it'd have been one.

Good food and choices, even for vegetarians/vegan. Table service is excellent. Place is tidy and spacious. Outdoor sitting area is available but full-menu is not available.

Having booked a table for breakfast , the waiting time was ridiculous. An hour for 3 breakfasts, the place was not over busy. Although waiting staff are polite, when I approached them to ask how long it's going to be. I was told there was a 45 minute waiting time , which I was not advised before ordering. I would of like to be given the option of wait or leave it, as I had already made plans for the day which I then had to rush my food. Cooked Breakfast was ok , however my daughters milk for her cereal came out warm and very limited.

Thought we would give this place another chance. But again failed to deliver, not overly busy given the amount of staff on shift. Felt hopeful as we were served by a shift leader, ordered drinks as we were told 20/25 mins wait for food. Starters arrived, no drinks to be seen. Upon investigation the Jack Daniels and water was served in a pint glass and the g&t was not even served. When the mains were served we had to ask for cutlery, buttermilk chicken burger was goujons not the usual thigh burger and clearly reheated as they were very dry, my husband had steak which was okay. There was no check back and no further drinks offered until we had actually finished. Most of mine was still on the plate but no questions were asked, just "any more drinks" which was clearly too late. It took 5 attempts to get the bill, as the shift leader was busy straightening menu's etc. Surely this should be delegated to the staff just stood around chatting. Eventually my husband had to go up to the ordering station to ask for the bill. So will definitely not be visiting again. Previous visits were just as bad, steak pie with no meat, chips requested, served with mash, 30 min wait for pudding! Also expensive!

Really disappointed with The Mash & Barrel. We were here at Easter & are here now on site and the food & ‘KITCHEN’ service is very very poor BUT the waiting on staff are lovely.

Even when the restaurant isn’t that busy at all, we are still having a LONG wait for food to come out. Drinks are usually faster but the wait on food is getting worse.

I had to send my meal back twice yesterday (Thai Green curry) as the chicken was raw BOTH TIMES !!!!!!! Come on Kitchen staff, get your act together. I was asked if I would like another of the same meal, as you can imagine I absolutely refused & got it taken off the bill. I also got the spag bol took off the bill as it was sooo bland, dry & had no sauce.

The waiting on staff are really nice & I’m fully aware it’s not them that need a reprimanding due to poor cooking but being front of house, they will encounter customers being ‘off’ with them & that’s not fair.

Everyone else’s meals were just ok.

It is nice though that with every adult meal, kids eat for £1.

It’s highly unlikely that anyone ‘management wise’ from Bourne Leisure/Presthaven Sands will ever read this or any other review about Mash & Barrel BUT, it’s for ‘potential customers’ who are considering eating there.

For what it is it's expensive but when you are on haven itself it's one of only places you can sit and eat in.

The food itself is ok think spoons, but spoons brekkie is better hands down.

Dinner is alright but at nearly £20 for a Frankenstein steak it's vertical, very very chewy and meat glue down the center.

Curry is alright tho, kids menu could do with a face lift as not all kids eat yellow and beige.

The staff are the saving grace, overworked underpaid but they are absolutely fantastic and friendly.
