This place is amazing! From start to finish the whole experience is brilliant. The lady at the front of house was so welcoming and warm. The venue has a really good feel about it with good music playing at a volume that still let's you speak! Our waiter was great, explained portion sizes and made strong recommendations and really enhanced the whole evening. A great selection of beers and other drinks that all go perfectly with the meats and good strong coffee to finish off the meal.
The whole atmosphere made for a really great evening and we will definitely be going back soon.

Top notch service, our server Michael was nothing short of amazing. Very attentive and easy to talk to. He walked us through all the different techniques they use for cooking the meat. The portions are quite large. The taste was amazing.
100% will be back and will recommend to others.

I absolutely love this place.!! Smokd is the coolest restaurant I’ve been to in a very very long time 😎❤️👌🏻. I want to and I must say a very special thank you the amazing and lovely Priscilla 🤩🥰 I felt so cared for I felt like family, thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️. My Tray No4 was the best meat dish I have ever eaten.! Beautiful cooked and juicy and succulent to the very last bite.! And I took every bite, I didn’t leave a scrap.! Delicious 😋. I highly recommend Smokd restaurant, the amazing staff and the out of this world food.! I will be visiting again soon ❤️👌🏻

This was the second time we've been in Smokd. Very nice food and the service was really good. Meat tender and full of flavour. Priscila, our waitress provided an excellent service making our culinary experience even better. 100% recommended for meat lovers (although there is also a vegan menu available).

Tried and failed the Wednesday wing challenge. Hopefully next time. Huge and great tasting wings with a lovely range of toppings. Staff were super friendly. Highly recommend.

Located in Newport’s regenerated quarter (AKA Friar’s Walk), Smokd is an independent restaurant that takes an artisan approach to smoked meat. It’s hipster vision of ‘barbecue, beer and indie music’ is an interesting contribution to Newport’s waning high street. The main offerings are beef, chicken and pork. Aside from the usual wings, burgers and fries, the main idea centres on ‘trays’ which are basically large meat platters. The servings are visually impressive but once the bones are removed are fairly standard. I tried the ‘burnt ends’ (succulent chunks of brisket) and the House burger. The burger was very tasty but tended to fall apart in my hands. I don’t think it's the best burger I’ve tasted – that crown goes to Shake Shack in Cardiff's St David’s Centre - but it definitely holds its own in the burgeoning burger market. I thought the menu was expensive but the service was faultless. While I’m not a meat aficionado I think Smokd offers the kind of grass roots imagination that Newport needs.

Went today, loved it. I'm coeliac, so need gluten free, and always great to have a separate gluten free menu. Had the sharing platter, and really enjoyed it. Strangely was told the onion rings that were on the gluten free menu weren't gluten free, and they didn't have a Gluten Free beer, but still, great BBQ.

Visited this place 2 times. The first time we was very very impressed. The chef was unreal with his burgers. I told the waiters to personally thank him, And the chicken was out of this world. The burger buns was very nice and tasty. Staff was very good. There was a young guy couldn’t do anything wrong. The wait was over an hour but the first time it was worth it. Can’t complain. So we decided to go back 2 days later it was that good. And oh boy what a change. Chef was not the same guy. Staff was all different and the food was completely different . Burger was burnt and tasteless. The rolls was way to big for the burger . Bacon was burnt to hell. My Girlfriend had a chicken burger and it was un eatable. We ordered the nachos and they was standing for so long they become solid and stuck together. My fork and knife was dirty so I told the waiter but she didn’t understand what I said so I used the wooden skewer stick from the burger to eat my chips that was half cooked. I feel this place has so much to offer, and can really challenge the top restaurants in the place that it is. But the standards need to be kept high for the amount of money they are charging. Get the chef back who I thanked he knows who he his. The photo was from the first time. Didn’t take a photo second time. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.
