Billy Currell the Roofing Specialist

Having recently completed a full dormer loft conversion, Billy Currell came recommended to us by 3 people. From looking at the final product, it’s clear to see excellent craftsmanship

After being sent Billy’s details he came over to estimate for a small piece of work before the storms in March. Day of the storms we lose 10 hip tiles hitting the roof below. Billy and his team were round the next day, making sure that the roof was water tight and providing feedback for the insurance company within 24 hours. The whole process of working with Billy was seamless. Even when we were thrown a curve ball and had to go back to the insurance company, he made it easy, simple estimate of works and all completed without a fuss. Nothing was too much bother (even a panicked call from me in the pouring rain, Billy and Alex were round to ensure that my house was secure and dry!). Highly recommended.

We have used Billy Currell for roofing both professionally as Letting and Managing Agents and personally for several years and hope to continue to use their roofing services. We have found them to be professional, their prices competitive and they have always done a very good job.

Just watched some delightful gentlemen sat in the company van at a red light drop a number of empty coffee cups, cans, and plastic bottles into the middle of the road through the van window.

Disgusting and disrespectful behaviour, owners should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Over the years I have used Billy Currell and his team to do works on my roof, from replacing tiles to fix leaks, ridge work , and replacing a complete garage roof. I would like to commend Billy Currell (the Roofing Specialist) and his Team for the excellent, efficient, professional roof and lead works they carried out at our property. They went above and beyond to carry out all works to our complete satisfaction. Their extreme caring and concern in so doing was beyond belief. *UPDATE*: Mr Currell's work is defective and does not meet industry standards. The Court has ordered Mr Currell to pay us; he has not done so. Beware of this untrustworthy and unprofessional trader.

We hired Mr Currell to repair damp in our roof in March 2019. The damp returned within months and we still have damp in March 2021. We had been asking Mr Currell for 15 months to repair his work. During this period he tried to charge us to repair his work, returned on and off when attempting (but failing) to fix the damp, and caused more (entirely avoidable) damage to our home in the process.

Due to our frustration with the lack of progress and continuing damage to our home, we recently paid for a RICS chartered surveyor to assess his works. The surveyor's report concluded that Mr Currell's work is defective and he has failed to meet industry standards. We were not aware of the scale of the defects until we obtained the report. It is now apparent that we will need to hire another roofer to fix the work that we paid Mr Currell for in 2019.

Mr Currell has to date refused to return any money or compensate us.  We accept that problems can arise with works, but what counts is how they are dealt with. Mr Currell could have acted professionally, but he failed to engage, dragged his heels, causing us immense stress and inconvenience, while the damage to our home continues. He also failed to register our guarantee in the first place.

We feel it is important to warn other consumers of our unpleasant experience; please be careful in choosing Mr Currell as your roofer.
