Gate House Wood Touring Park

Small but clean and pretty site. Lots of amenities, shop and playground. Limited walking/nature. Within walking distance of pub and restaurant. Also has Italian pizza stone oven on site on weekends. Some background traffic noise from A road and motorway.

Fantastic campsite. Very clean clearly marked out pitches friendly cpl running a tight ship. The Covid-19 regime they have in place is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Didn't get to stay as we had to return to France due to emergency - our house had collapsed. Phoned 8 days before we were due to stay and asked if I could defer it to another date later in the year when we could come back to UK. The answer was no! All of the other campsites we'd booked with were more generous with either refunds or deferring our booking to a later date. If a pitch fee is that important for them to be so heartless good luck to them. We will never book here again.

Terrible experience with male campsite owner shouting at our children for no good reason, and being rude to my husband. The lady who owns the place apologised to us for his behaviour, but we would never stay there again and it looks like we are not the only ones who have experienced aggressive behaviour from him.

We came here on Wednesday without notice and the office was closed. The very friendly and helpful owner came anyway and booked us in for the night.

The campsite is nice with big pitches and lots of trees around. A playground for our 2 year old was really nice. Showers and toilets are one of the cleanest we encountered on our 4 week trip in the UK.

The campsite was really calm. There is offcoarse the noise of the highway that is quite nearby. It is manageable though and given that the access to the highway is so nearby this is to be expected.

A perfect campsite as a pitstop to and from dover and other areas in UK (for us Devon)

Nice site , very clean facilities.
Shop on site or in petrol station within walking distance, Fish and chip shop and restaurants also within walking distance. Road noise but did not spoil our 8 night stay. Lovely bacon and sausage baps over the Bank Holiday mornings.

We found our trip to the Gate House Wood extremely helpful, warm, clean, very attentive. They helped us in a very difficult time. We would most definitely recommend this site. Karen and Dave are Fantastic hosts and will 110% stay here again. Couldn't be more grateful for the kindness and support plus the site was so relaxing. I wish them all the love and success for there future campers.

Having read some of the poor reviews, I am a little confused as to whether people are reviewing the correct site! One mentions log cabins, none on Gate House Wood that we pitched on; overnight tents in a car park- again, there is a late arrival car park, but for caravan or motorhome.
So I will review it as we found it. FABULOUS! The owners were definitely friendly and beyond helpful when our main electrics failed to work. Luckily our lights worked from the caravan battery and we could cook with gas. But Dave went out of his way to find someone to fix it. The site was fairly quiet before the school holiday rush. It was peaceful at night. We certainly could not hear the motorway. The site is next to a busy road but not obtrusive. The trees cut out the noise. Spotless facilities. Simple covid rules for simple facilities. Large pitches. We liked the site and the owners very much. Go and see for yourselves. If you are not happy, don't go back. But we definitely will.
