Found this coffee shop following recommendation from a friend. The sandwich bar has now been extended and there's a coffee shop on the side. Tables and comfy chairs are situated in the front part of the shop whilst out the back there are sofas and more comfy leisure style chairs. We went on a Saturday and were the only ones in the front part (a family were at the back) - clearly it was empty like this because no-one knows about it yet! Service was quick and attentive. Ordered a cappuccino and a mocha, some rocky road and a bakewell tart and it was under £9 - great tasting too.

Would thoroughly recommend this whether you are after a quick catch up with a friend or going as a group - surprisingly though, the menu choice of sandwiches and wraps seems somewhat limited (considering it is a sandwich shop!) but I guess they don't want to scare customers off with too much choice. At a guess, they'd pretty much make any sandwich you wanted to order!

Check it out.

Hatters has new owners since April 2017 and what a difference! The shop has changed slightly with a more homely feel, with many new lines of fillings for sandwiches along with first class homemade cakes with friendly, and attentive staff that aim to please.
If you have been to Hatters recently, you must have tried the Homemade Chocolate Peanut Brownies.... they are heavenly and the talk of Bury St. Edmunds!

The ladies in Hatters never fail to make me smile...and...the selection of fillings is great for sandwiches, salads, wraps... any combination. And, then there's the pasties, sausage rolls and cakes to temp the discerning diner! All very reasonably priced. Love this little gem of a sandwich shop!

Warm friendly service and great food. I eat here a couple of times a week and find it reasonably priced, good variety. Try out the brownies you won't regret it

Lovely summers day in Bury st Edmunds, lunch time came around. Found this fabulous place, tucked down a lane between the butter market and Angel hill.

Staff so friendly and helpful, fresh bread and loads of lovely fresh fillings and all great value.

Will definitely use again when I'm there, little off the main drag, but only 1 min walk, you should go there, support local, people like this need and deserve you 😀👌

I got two bacon rolls from here. I was hoping for two fresh bacon rolls but the bacon had already been cooked and was just heated up so it was really dry. The buns were huge though and the portion of bacon was generous.

Excellent selection and friendly service. Got there just as closing, but still happily made 3 sets of fresh sandwiches and drinks.
