I highly recommend Brook House Cottages. We received an extremely warm welcome which continued throughout our stay and the owners went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable, especially for our grandson who loved releasing the paddle of ducks each morning and collecting their eggs. He also visited the lambs. The cottages are in a super setting right next to a pretty stream. They are very comfortable and we especially enjoyed the comfy seats and wood burning stove. It is rare also to find a kitchen which is so generously resourced. It was all very clean too. We enjoyed our evening strolls in the surrounding countryside and being close to many attractions locally. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Castlerigg Stone Circle.. We shall certainly return and noted that it would be easy to host a very large family gathering here.

Perfect location to base for exploring the lake district. Idyllic surroundings and views. Brookhouse 1 has a beautiful garden to sit in at the front and overlooks the brook which is safe for kids to play in. Cottages well kitted out with all necessary facilities. This has been a firm family favourite since my kids were small and is now with my grandchildren. Highly recommended.

Booked Brookhouse 1 for an 80th birthday treat for my dad. My family all got together for the surprise. What a fabulous Christmas we all had. The cottage was outstanding. The new kitchen had everything my husband needed to cook an amazing Christmas dinner. Having 3 toilets was very handy for the amount of people! The log burner was a joy, with an endless supply of wood. The bedrooms were very well laid out with comfy beds. Alison had very kindly left a bottle of bucks fizz in the fridge, which was a lovely touch. In fact nothing was too much for her. Checking if there was anything we needed, whenever we saw her.

Fantastic place to stay whilst in the lake district as there are great facilities, the owner is lovely and cheery. The main attraction is the homely feeling of the cottage, we have stayed there 10 years in a row and it will never get old.
