Cosy little sheperds hut, surrounded by stunning Welsh countryside and perfectly placed for fossil hunting in Upper Gilwern Quarry. If you want complete peace and quite and a good site to look for trilobites then this is it.

A wonderful experience. The hut is cute, cozy, and comfortable. The view of the hills is something we will not forget. We really enjoyed our stay and being able to go hunting for trilobite fossils!

Brilliant, cosy and welcoming. We found loads of amazing fossils in the quarry and enjoyed walking over the fields at the back, where we saw wheatears and cuckoos. The hut was well equipped and comfortable. Sitting around the fire at night and looking at the stars was incredible . The Thai restaurant in howey was lovely as well. Thanks for a wonderful stay 😊

Really are great trilobite fossils. Fabulous location, cosy comfortable hut. Played "Night on a bare mountain" as a storm raged one night if our stay.

Warm and beautifully-equipped hut. The location is stunning - very, very quiet, no sound but the skylarks. The trilobite quarry was what we came for, loads of finds. The location has wonderful dark skies so would be great for astronomy too. A very warm welcome from incredibly helpful owner. 100% recommend and will return!

Rain or shine, this is an amazing, peaceful place to chill and find fossils.
