Penybryn Cottage is a true home from home! On arrival we were warmly greeted by Mark (ownner) and shown around the grounds and cottage. Penybryn was exactly as described and a whole lot more! The views are simply stunning and the garden much bigger than expected, much to the delight of our children aged 8 and 6. Lots of fun was had by them both and they totally enjoyed playing with the owners twin boys. The cottage has all the amenties a family would need and the wood burning stove is a bonus on cooler evenings! Our family would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage. We loved it so much we have booked again!

My girlfriend & I stayed at Penbryn Cottage in Dec 2013. We were delighted to discover a beautiful cottage in a stunning location & the end of a long winding lane, surrounded by hills.
The cottage was lovingly decorated & very well equipped. It felt like everything had been thought out for us. Perfect for couples, family's with kids & groups of friends. Planning on going back!

London couple.

Our third trip to Penybryn Cottage and can't wait to get back there next year.

Gorgeous views from the property. Stunning walks in the area or from Penybryn itself if you can't be bothered getting the car out.

This cottage is a perfect balance of authentic cosy Welshness but with style and comfort.

Highly recommended - but please don't book our week!

Penybryn is a beautiful cottage that you will fall in love with the moment you arrive. A perfect place for families or couples. The cottage has everything you could need for a short break or for the whole week (or more if you want), it is cosy whilst still being spacious, a real home from home.

Stunning views of the Welsh countryside from all the rooms. The cottage is close enough to town to do some shopping whilst still being in a quiet location.

A fantastic holiday retreat. If you enjoy peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and relaxing walks in the countryside then look no further. The Cross Foxes public house provides excellent food should you not wish to cook, and is only a few minutes away by car.

What a beautiful, quiet, well-presented and did I say beautiful? We've just come back from 6 days at Gwerfyl and Mark's lovely cottage, and it was great. It was our first family holiday in about 7 years, and it was well and truly worth the wait. The cottage is lovely, beautifully appointed, but not twee or boutique-y (if that even is a word) so that you don't want to touch anything. The massive beautifully presented garden was great for the kids to run around and play in, with lovely views of the hills and mountains, with sheep and cows in the neighbouring fields for my animal-mad 7 year old to gush over. Plus the odd bunny rabbit and loads of different birds to watch for.

For all its perceived remoteness though, its only 10 minutes from Dolgellau, with its shops, pubs, restaurants etc, and just half an hour away from Barmouth with its gorgeous beach (and fish and chips). Coed Y Brenin is just up the road for a good hack about on your MTB. My little lad (and this rather older lad who is writing this) loved the Talyllyn railway, again, about half an hour away.

All in all, to paraphrase the Comic Book Guy, "Best. Holiday. Ever." Do yourselves a favour and book a week or two here. You will not be disappointed. Oh, and the free range eggs are brilliant on a bacon and egg butty!

Having just returned from a week with my partner and 4yr old daughter at this magical cottage tucked away in the picturesque rolling welsh countryside, all I can say is.....why on earth did I only book a week :( sad faces all round, We absolutely fell in love with this cottage, from the mile long twisty drive up through the moss covered 'enchanted forest' (4 yr old remember) to the whole welsh, stags, tartan, wood & stone theme that runs throughout the whole place, you really feel that you are out in the wilderness here, once your settled in you'll be hard stretched to leave the place during your all-too-short stay. The owners live next door, although we only saw them twice, once when arriving and once when departing and they were incredibly friendly and welcoming and clearly take a lot of pride in the upkeep of they're old home, and it shows, this is not a thrown together holiday cottage made to make money at the cost of quality and value for money, this is a labour of love for the owners and as they actually used to live in it a few years ago the contents and quality of the fittings, furniture etc show great taste and a liking for quality rather than 'it'll do' which makes it feel so homely. And then there's the views.....every window from every room, breathtaking..
We cannot recommend this cottage enough and we will definitely be rebooking in the very near future
