The reason I was here was that I was attending a meeting. The room was large and airy with plenty of light. Seating was excellent and there was a good amount of room for workshop meetings after the main introductory talks.

After the meeting there was a buffet lunch which was more than adequate. Food was freshly prepared and plentiful.

Four stars thought because the disabled toilet I visited near the conference room was shabby and the floor was worn and grubby.

Went here for an early bird breakfast which offers a good deal. It was pretty quiet and peaceful, which is how I like to take my breakfast. The food is nothing special really, but it's not that bad either. You really visit this place to take in the atmosphere, peer out across the channel and sup your tea. The service was excellent! The girl who served us was friendly and professional. Service like this is hard to come across nowadays. I'd recommend.

We had our wedding here on Saturday and it was a fantastic day. The planning of the wedding was fairly painless thanks to the brilliant wedding coordinator Megan Sweet, who came as part of the package. The quirky rooms have such grandeur and beauty that they lend themselves perfectly to such an occasion. Everyone had a fantastic day. Highly recommend The Grand as a completely unique venue and a hotel that is steeped in history.

We called in for a coffee late morning, after a lovely walk along the Leas. Staff great, coffee real - and no more expensive than in the less elegant places in town. Glanced at the lunch menu and wished we could have stayed. We'll definitely go back to eat at the Grand.

Good place to stop off when walking with the dog! Great coffee and friendly service. Dog allowed in reception area, log fire, leather chairs, newspapers...great! Pianist playing in front restaurant area, love it..I am really surprised that the afternoon tea/restaurant area had 1 table of guests only on a Sunday at 1.30?? Owners should take a look at reasons behind that as it should be thriving. I haven't given 5* as found toilet and some lobby areas needing a refresh, won't stop be from returning though! :)

I had afternoon cream tea with an amazing view over the English channel, the staff were polite, professional and looked smart. The cost at £6.95 I think is very reasonable.
The grand is a Beautiful 1930's Hotel which could do with a spruce up, however, the service, the food and the view more than made up for the tired interior and I spent the majority of the time looking out over the channel anyway! Highly recommended

Beautiful building. Many original features, well cared for. Not at all sad or neglected as I feared would be the case. Classy Christmas party with well presented and helpful staff. Will definitely go back given the opportunity for maybe dinner or afternoon tea ! Super.

A beautiful historic piece of architecture that has not been maintained, it is in desperate need of renovation. The staff were polite and helpful. However, the rooms were in dire. So much in fact that nothing could persuade my family and I to stay, we were offered a discount and free breakfast, but the apartment should never have been available to reserve. It wasn't simply the decor but it was dirty, it smelt, the kitchen had sticky surfaces....I would go so far as to say it was hazardous. The view was sensational such a disappointment and shame that it is a shadow of the grandeur of its hay day.
