I've found Kendal to be a lovely town with a charming town centre, but this shopping mall in the middle of it is an embarrassment. Barely any shops of note in the open units, closed off escalators. The vaccination set up on the top floor adds to the feel of a dystopian movie set.

Can only comment on the centre as I didn't use the parking facility. Although it's a nice set up and spacious inside, it's completely bare and basically no shops inside. Very disappointing considering its location. Maybe more shops will be coming soon. Toilets were a state.

The lift is useful, and the car park is convenient for shoppers.
Clean and well presented the centre provides undercover shopping, and is situated close to the bus depot.
Kendal is a lively town with a great main street, and river walks.

When this place first opened a lot of the retail units were empty for a long time. Now many years later the situation is even worse. Nearly all of the top-floor units are vacant and quite a few on the ground floor as well. Just to add to the overwhelming sense of desolation, the escalators don't work and the toilets are closed.

In reality, this 1990s vision of retail was always doomed and a bulldozer should now put it out of its misery

Well what a total White Elephant the Westmoreland Shopping Centre has become, currently its just like it was when it opened all those years ago, dozens of shops closed qnd 3mpty units, fortunately their all on the upper level, apart from a few around the indoor market and the Market Street entrance, they have even closed off both the up and down escalators so if you come into the centre from the multistorey carpark you have to either go back through the carpark to go down to lower level or go out into Market Place and all way round to main entrance on Stricklandgate, you 2ont be missing much if you don't go in there sadly
