I was a student at Grey Court from 2001-2006. I hated every minute of it. Bullying wasn't an everyday occurrence but it happened quite a bit. A number of students in my year alone were picked on quite severely and the teachers in general couldn't really be bothered to tackle the problem. I have a friend that was in my year who was called a liar by a teacher who they went to see when they were being bullied in this teachers lessons.
Favoritism was pretty rife when I was there. Everyone should be treated equally, but you'd accept those being well thought of if they were very good students or very talented at a certain subject. Sadly, when I was there that didn't happen. The kind of students who were generally favored were the trouble makers and the ones with severe attitude problems, the majority of the very good students and the average students who did as they were told and stayed out of trouble were largely ignored.
What was unbelievable was the massive cover-up by the teachers whenever the Ofsted inspectors came, to make the school look as much like 'School of the Decade' when going there everyday it couldn't have been further from the truth.
You go to school for an education! Not to have 5 years of your childhood made a misery by people who come from families were they can't be bothered to raise their children properly! Not be continuously shunned by authority figures who can't be bothered to do their jobs properly!
But saying all this in the last couple years I've heard about the current Headmistress who joined in 2007 has turned the school around. This does sound and look encouraging. I'd hate it if another child went through the Grey Court that me and my friends went through.

Grey Court has been great for both my kids, lots of sport, inspiring teachers and dedicated teaching. The whole school community has been supportive and welcoming. Proud to be part of it all.

An excellent school that's improved massively in recent years and is now one of the best in South West London.

The Greycourt School of 2017 is ambitious, grounded and - most importantly to me - cuts an authentic place for itself in a world where the concept of a truly powerful education is poorly understood and rarely realised. As a parent who's seen his son move through the last five years steadily and progressively - I see huge improvements each year. The Head Teacher has a powerful vision, works tirelessly for the good of the students and continues to build a reputation for aspiration, consistency and success both in terms of bringing thinking, richly equipped young adults into a challenging world and in terms of the extraordinary shift in academic achievement. The growing sense of community and purpose inherent in the culture of the school is self-evident in the rich and diverse range of events that the school and the Parents Association put on. Is every student a raging fan of Greycourt? Of course not. (Hence some of the negative voices articulated below.) But take just an hour to visit the school for yourself and you'll soon understand that this is school that values development, cherishes difference and puts to shame some of its more comfortable and wealthier neighbours.
