Complaint regarding product & staff attitude Leicester Thurmaston store:
I purchased 2 pairs of Miso leggings on 10th August 2021, having purchased them before and been satisfied that they fit my body shape and thighs. I alternate leggings over a week, so the new pair have been washed approximately 4 times. I went to put on my new Miso leggings, and whilst bringing them over my thigh, the material tore, so planned to return them to store that day, 22nd September 2021. The Miso leggings I previously purchased have lasted for well over a year with my usual exercise programme.
The assistant I spoke to initially looked at the leggings and said she could not resolve the issue, but would get her colleague who I assumed was senior to her. Her colleague came out looked at the leggings, with her colleague next to her, and asked if I had purchased them with the tear, to which I replied with a questioning no. She then suggested they tore on something as I pulled them up, and I responded that they tore on my thigh and my thighs are smooth, so there is nothing to tear them on. She then said as they are not ripped at the seam the tear was not due to the fabric, but wear and tear and they could not be refunded, as that was the store’s policy. I asked, if she brought an item of clothing from town whether after 5 weeks she would be satisfied if the item ripped, and she replied yes and she would not return them. She then said that that it was the price I paid for the leggings which was the problem! I said thank you and left the store, as I could not believe what she had said.
Her response and tone regarding the questions she asked, and reference to cost of the item was extremely embarrassing to me, and not only was the other member of staff in earshot, but another customer as I turned to leave. How condescending not only to me but a population who may not have the finances to buy ‘named brands’ as I assume by her statement she clearly has. Also, there was no consideration of what may be ‘best fit’ for people of different sizes and shapes as ‘name brands’ are not the best fit for all.
My assumption is that Sports Direct have a policy on returns, which I would like to see in regards to if it doesn’t tear at the seam, the assumption is it is wear and tear. I would hope that Sports Directs stance on affordable clothing is not based on a 5-week wear and throw, which is by no means environmentally friendly. If staff are trained to deal with the public regarding low-cost items in this way, then Sports Direct should not sell them.

There is more, but having gone back to the store in Thurmaston 3 times and had contact with them on line, I give up!!! It's the principle not the money that frustrates me
They lost 2 sales today.
Me waiting downstairs and my wife waiting upstairs. If you find a member of staff their not interested.
We both gave up and walked out.
