As usual the store is badly laid out, dark and depressing. However I decided it was worth going in because I needed a new Norton ant-virus and there are 2 big pillar signs offering what I want at £30 off. Having hunted for it I asked an assistant who said it was out the back so she would go and get it....so far so good. However she then got distracted by the other assistant and disappeared to look up a price, then went to help the assistant on the till. No "sorry, just a moment"....Annoyed but used to WHS I went to the bank, and returned to ask again. The assistant then went to get the Norton, excellent. The till assistant then rang up the item, which showed £69.99 instead of £39.99. I pointed out the big signs at the entrance showing a £30 saving. Only comment, "It is the last one, we aren't allowed to change the price, so we can't give a discount". She seemed surprised I didn't want to buy it. Either get rid of the signs or charge what you advertise, and get more customer friendly staff.

Very poor. Dark, dirty, badly laid out merchandising. Like something from the 70’s. Surely this is the next retail chain to disappear from our streets. Sooner the better in my view in hope that we get something better.
The staff are generally poor. The self service machines are horrid and cluttered with dusty merchandising. If they were an overflow option when busy, I’d be fine with it, but staff stand there doing nothing whilst you tap a dozen keys to pay for a newspaper. I will walk a long way to avoid WH Smith if there’s an alternative. The Managment must be very poor and/or never visit these places unannounced. Worst shop on the high street.

You can find every thing related to ststionary. A long range of very informative books to all ages. Magazines and newspapers. etc

I was hoping for something more like a proper bookstore. But it’s clear this very crowded shop caters more to the writing and school merchandise, which is abundant if that’s what you’re looking for. The books are crammed into the back higgledy-piggeldy and there is not a huge selection. The shop is otherwise poorly organized and cramped.

Very dark and uninviting shop, staff never seem to be very happy, has all the usual stationary, cards, books etc but quite pricey.

RUDE STAFF AND NO ONE AROUND!!
What shocking service!!! I took my mother into WHSMITH today at 2:00pm to send a DHL parcel and there was no staff anywhere on the floor. People were ringing the bell for staff and walking out the shop. Finally an Indian lady arrives with a real attitude and tells us she has not received training with DHL and just tells us to do it ourselves and places an envelope on the shelve behind us and disappears again. Once we had filled everything in on the computer we had to start ringing again for assistance. Another girl named Sophie arrives apologising and says she is new and also has no idea what to do with the DHL form.
I had to collect my daughter from school so left my 75 year mum there to finish off sending her letter but the staff were so rude to her and spoke very abruptly to her so my mum left after speaking to the manager on the telephone expressing how upset she was with how the Indian staff members was talking to her. My mum told the Indian staff member that it was unacceptable that she left the shop unattended and said she was going to complain. The response was that she didn’t care and that mum could call anyone she wanted too to complain. She then walked off. Sophie apologised to my mum and said she couldn’t understand why she is such a rude person.
Absolutely disgraceful service. My poor mum walked out not being able to send her DHL parcel.
WHSMITH should brush up on their training if they want to provide and service and get better staff that actually want to be there.

We managed to find everything we needed in here for our grandchildren, but was a bit disheartened by their poor book selection.
