Poor service. Electricity and internet is always cut off without any compensation.
You can't imagine when everything in your room need electricity, the only thing you can do is sitting there at midnight or in the morning...

Unfortunately I had the worst booking experience up until William assisted me and was patient enough to cater to exactly my room preferences. He was outstandingly helpful and extremely polite.

William seems like a hard-working person who actually wants to help out. Usually i don't write reviews but I honestly think he fully deserves it.

To those of you who don’t want to read the whole review, the moral of my story is that you should avoid this place like the plague. Chapter couldn’t care less about student wellbeing and customer service, all they care about is money money money. The facilities are incredibly limited and worn down, they put no effort into their social events, and you could find nicer and quieter rooms at the nearest psychiatric hospital. Save your money and sanity and pick another student accommodation instead or share a flat with your friends.

Firstly, the management at Chapter are some of the most cowardly and insensitive people I have met. My laptop was stolen at reception nearly 7 months ago while I was away on holiday. Approximately three weeks after the incident occurred I ask the manager to check the cctv footage, she waited over a week to finally check and then told me that the cctv couldn’t retrieve footage over a month old. How convenient. I then started the gruelling six month process, which is still ongoing, of asking the Chapter team to look into the situation and find the person who stole my laptop. They continuously ignored my emails and my calls, and still are, and would feed me lies and false hopes when I asked about it in person. 7 months later and nothing has come of the “investigation”, I am still without a laptop and the funds to replace them.

Secondly, the noise levels in your room are unbearable. Of the 9 months I lived there, the only days I could sleep peacefully were when the construction stopped on Sundays and thats if I was lucky enough to not have drunk people yelling outside my window. I emailed the team about this and they said that the noise would tone down in two weeks, which surprise suprise it didnt, and they wouldn’t allow me to move rooms. I eventually had to leave to live with a friend because I couldn’t handle the noise and lack of sleep. And yes, 9 months later the construction noise is still ongoing so unless you want to wake up feeling like you’re in the front line trenches of WW1, avoid staying here.

Lastly, I can’t emphasise enough how much of a rip off this place is for the horrible facilities it offers. First of all, they claim to have all these social events but they will always cancel or “reschedule” them last minute because they’re understaffed. The only events you’ll be getting here is a plastic fold out table with tea and cookies once every other month. Secondly, the rooms resemble more of a highway motel than a student accommodation that charges 360 pounds and over per week. The shower was filled with mold when we arrived, we had to clean it with bleach ourselves, and the beds gave me back pains they were so incredibly small, thin, and springy. My friend stayed over and got a literal bruise from the protruding springs.

And to the Chapter member that’s going to reply to this review, don’t even bother. Nothing you say can cover up how badly managed this place is and the other reviews vouch for it, and no I will not send you my feedback via email because you just won’t reply!!

We have been staying here for almost 2 months, and unfortunately we got Covid and feel very sick. Thus we have to order foods and groceries. Unfortunately, even though we have notified that we are tested positive covid, the receptionists do not want to help to either allowing the delivery man to deliver our orders to our unit, nor helping us to get it delivered upstairs.

When I informed them we are positive covid and feel unwell that could not pick up the deliveries, they responded back that as the isolation is no longer required for anyone who tested positive for covid, they asked us just go downstairs to pick up the foods/deliveries. Can they at least put some HUMANITY? We are not well enough to pick up the deliveries downstairs so at least they let the driver/delivery man to go upstairs? and it is to my surprise that apparently they don't care if some one positive covid accessing public areas/facilities within this building : (

Whilst we understand their policy for the receptionist not supposedly help to deliver to the unit and for not allowing third party delivery courrier/driver to deliver to the unit, but can't they give some exemption under certain conditions ie when the tenants are sick? Does it mean that if we are staying in this place, get sick and not well enough to pick up our order, then we have to wait until we get our friend come to help us?

Last week as we couldn't pick up the deliveries downstairs and the receptionist refused to help, thus I said should you then throw away those deliveries? and guess what, we never received nor found those deliveries..

I have stayed with chapter for two years and I have had a lovely time here. Overtime the management has changed and now they don’t care what’s happening. They charge massive rent and then have construction going on everyday starting at 8 am even on the weekends. No one responds to the emails you send. Would avoid the place because you can never get a good night sleep anymore and no one to actually respond and resolve issues

My room was not cleaned properly when I arrived. There are also broken furniture. My neighbours were extremely noisy. I reported noise problem during night hours (like 1-3 AM) over tens times and nothing has changed. These students acted like their room is a dance floor — singing, dancing, screaming at night.

A really enjoyable experience living at Chapters Old Street so far. The customer experience is second to none. The staff is extremely friendly (shoutout to William and Jonathan) and have readily assisted me in several occasions. The facilities at the accomodation are top notch and the resident community is quite tight knit. One of the best student accomodations in London and would definitely recommend to anyone attending university in Central and East London.
