John Winter Student Houses

John Winter is by far the best student landlord in Cardiff. They are all extremely helpful, they help take care of bills and council tax, and when I’ve had a problem they’ve been out within an hour to look at it. Every major problem Ive had, such as our oven breaking, was sorted out in a few hours, and they don’t charge you anything. The houses are in great condition and obviously well looked after, plus you don’t need to pay a deposit which was very helpful. Overall I have lived with John winter for 3 years and never had a bad experience with them, would 100% recommend.

Having been a tenant with John Winter for 2 years, I would go nowhere else for student letting in Cardiff if you want a pleasant, hassle-free AND deposit-free experience.

Both houses I have lived in on Rhymney Street and Coburn Street were modern and beautifully furnished including: large fridge-freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, double beds, spacious gardens, etc.

Aside from the houses themselves, the team (especially Richard) have ALWAYS gone above and beyond to accommodate us in any way they can. The Facebook group chat makes all the difference for quick and easy communication, alongside the regular maintenance and general upkeep of the property from Ollie the Maintenance Man, Jason the Gardener, and Nigel the Window Cleaner.

Overall, the standard of properties and service that John Winter provides is incomparable to any other agencies\landlords in Cardiff. I couldn't fault the experience that my housemates and I have had over the 2 years with John Winter and will continue to recommend them to any students in the area. John Winter deserve nothing less than a 5*.

Amazing Landlord, responds to any messages/queries as fast as they can (usually the same day) and the house was great. If we ever had any issues we’d message them and they’d be over within a day or two to fix it. Couldn’t recommend them enough - definitely the best in Cardiff!

Highly recommended student housing!!! Totally hassle free - the team have been so friendly and helpful for the 3 years I’ve been a tenant. The houses are great with regular maintenance/improvements and a group chat for quick and easy communication, meaning that any issues in the house were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Cannot recommend John Winter enough - the prices might be a little higher than other letting agencies in Cardiff, but it’s definitely worth every penny going with John Winter for the service you get!

We had an amazing time renting with John winter. The JW team are great and would immediately help us with any maintenance issues or general queries we had. The house itself was furnished beautifully, the rooms were spacious and there was more than enough storage space. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I would definitely consider renting from them again in the future.

Last year, my daughter moved into her first student house in Cardiff – with John Winter. When my husband and I saw the house, we were so impressed – beautiful, very modern fitted kitchen with large american fridge-freezer (with ice-maker), dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, two stylish and very modern bathrooms (between 5 students), leather lounge furniture, and great bedrooms all with mirrored wardrobes and blackout blinds. The whole process of moving in was seamless – they were provided with an information pack with all the details they needed for setting up bills and wi-fi, recycling etc, and the office team talked them through everything, which was great for a student getting her first house. As a parent, it was reassuring to know that my daughter was dealing with a professional organisation, with a competent team available to answer their queries. Not only is it a fabulous house, but the maintenance is great too – the garden is maintained for them and a small problem with the tumble dryer was sorted immediately. My daughter & her friends have had a great year in a lovely house, and as a parent I’ve had no accommodation worries at all – knowing they were well looked-after.
For my family, John Winter has served two generations, because over thirty years ago, I moved into my first student house in Cardiff, and John Winter was my landlord! Back then, we had heard through the grapevine that his houses were great and he was very reliable – and both proved to be true back then as well! So, to be running this business for over 30 years, he clearly knows what he is doing, and is doing it very well. Very highly recommended.
