Biggest price fraud!
It feels odd to write a review about a grocery store but I don’t know what else can be done here.
Me and my flatmates live in the area so this Tesco is convenient to pop in for a quick shopping. What we noticed though, every single time of purchase the prices at the till check out don’t match to price tags at the shelves! Every single time same issue and “surprisingly” the total amount to pay is never in favour of a customer! I can only imagine how they scam people for 20-50p a day! today it’s got to the point it was obvious that staff is very much aware of it but reluctant to take the action.

I'm afraid this is my least favourite Tesco. I'm all for a bit of human connection at the supermarket but I like to have the choice of going to a self-checkout machine if I need to be in and out sharply. This Tesco - there's no self-checkout machines and pretty much only ever one person on the till. It takes so long to get served that you lose all rationality and end up buying big bags of mini-eggs that are suspiciously placed right by the counter.

Very rude employees with no manners. I asked them a question about parcel postage nicely and one of them raised their voices at me as if I am wasting his time and started laughing at me with the other employees, while speaking in their own language

I have recently switched from Sainsbury’s to Tesco due to home move and convenience. This little express has been a life saver for me and my children. Has everything we require for a weekly/monthly shop, making it easier to not have to venture out to a bigger store or multiple stores to complete my shop.

The staff are generally nice and helpful and have been accommodating at the tills when trying to juggle a pram, a toddler and a basket.

Added bonus, they have a Costa Express which is useful when you need a quick pick me up and a parcel point making it easier to run the majority of my errands in one go.

Overall, a great little store with some good people working there.

At the time of my shop they were restocking. The carts were in the way.

I've recently switched from shopping at my Sainsbury's Local on Kingsland Road (London E2) to Tesco Express (79 Hackney Road, E2).

I've heard a Bangladeshi store/security clerk (old guy wears a beanie/woolly hat) speaking in Sylhetti negatively about customers in the past and today he was talking about me.

A customer (who I think works there/knows the staff and I believe didn't speak/know English well) had queued up on the wrong side waiting for a staff checkout, and when he tried pushing in, I explained, politely, that the sign says that that he was in the queue for the self service check out. He argued that I was on the wrong side so I pointed to both signs (this way for staff checkout / this way for self service..." but wouldn't accept it. Honestly, i was on my way back from the gym so was in a good mood; just thought he could do with some help. There was no aggression in my tone or body language. I just ignored him and bought my stuff.

At this point the security clerk chimes in telling the guy "not to bother with me..." and other stuff in Sylheti. I wanted to respond in Sylheti that I'd grown up in Whitechapel amongst Bangladeshi friends so understood what he was saying but couldn't be bothered... Easier to revert back to my Sainsbury's Local.

I have no issue with people wanting to speak their language but when you're at work, you speak English, just as I do with my Indian colleagues in the office. Secondly, you don't sl*g off your customers... Or you at least wait until they're gone. Even if I didn't understand bits of Sylheti, given that he'd started talking to the other "customer" straight after our interaction and both of them were looking at me, it was obvious they were discussing me.

If you're going to leave a review, speak to corporate via social media. Having read other reviews I can confirm there's always stuff lying on the floor, the place has a sense of uncleanliness about it and I barely see the staff checkout manned.
