Waitrose & Partners Southend

No real hot breakfast anymore. No wheat free options, not even cake or pastry. They suggested my little one could have sushi, really?? This cafe was a really good one, now it looks like its on its last legs.

Plenty of parking at his site. A huge car park with a petrol station close to the entrance also. This store has the added benefit of having a Post Office in store too and is open 7 days a week. Very handy. A huge selection of pretty much anything you can think of to find in a Waitrose store. Wide aisles and plenty to choose from.

Shopping is OK. The bit I'm disappointed in is the cafe. I used to go in the 90s and 00s with my nan and used to have a proper nice meal. Now it's just minimal hot food. That isn't what bothers me. I can't drink diet drinks or I get night sweats if i do, the cafe and the fuel station don't do non diet soft drinks only water. OK that's fine but I consider it a bit of a treat to go to waitrose cafe and waitrose has a bit of a upper brand feel so I feel the cafe should feel good. I feel like I would get a better time and meal at a greasy spoon. The time before last I went the fridge wasn't working for the drinks so they were warm and this time no trays. No tray is not normally a problem but I had my daughter and I'm trying to hold her, multiple items, bags and food. I did ask for one once I got half way down and was able to ask for help but kind of feel it should be checked. The cafe is a real real let down for me there. I would rather they either overhaul the items in the cafe or just close it. I'm just really disappointed for the company.

I enjoy the variety Waitrose has on offer. The sushi bar is brilliant!

Sadly the cafe lets the store down a bit. I've experienced poor service there a few times. The food is almost adequate but could use some revision - a rethink with a focus on portion size and presention would be great! Additional staff training would be beneficial.

9/10/2022: I was a little surprised to find that choices in the cafe have become limited. It seems ironic that an upmarket brand like Waitrose would have such a limited menu. Additional staff training would be awesome - I'd prefer not to have my pastry topped with the till receipt. I wish Waitrose would respond to Google reviews... I guess the budget for Customer Service was slashed along with the free coffee.

The shop has plenty to offer, especially for the discerning foodie. There is also a good range of organic produce and other organic and gluten-free products available.

Good size waitrose with plenty of stock. Staff are helpful. Personally I kiss find the value has dropped. Obviously waitrose was never one of the cheaper supermarkets but now feels very expensive and the quality of produce isn't quite what it used to be, therefore the value for money has decreased substantially.

We used the cafe, and if you are after fast food don't visit here. There were about 5 in the queue in front of me and it took a good 15-20mins to serve us all, with just one person who had to act as server, barista and cashier! Never again.

Love this shop! A Cheese deli counter is becoming a rarity these days in supermarkets, but this one in Waitrose is well-stocked with a big variety of cheeses. Gluten free section is not very large and variety is limited, but they do stock brands that no one else does. The store is always well-stocked, clean and staff are very helpful.

This is a really nice Waitrose. Great cafe and a good selection of home products.
