The store has some pretty major stock issues. It’s been identified numerous times below, but the shelves are regularly empty across almost every department.
In particular I have noticed that the sandwich, soft drinks, salads, cous cous and coleslaw sections are near empty consistently. I will occasionally struggle to buy Trek protein bars from the free from section. It’s the perfect snack for vegans, so it’s a shame.
In regards to staff and service, there is staff but there’s no service. My colleague and I discussed how there’s often gossip, chatter and arguments with staff on shop floor. This is largely down to Sainsbury’s hiring process more than a management issue. Ultimately, if you hire unenthusiastic teenagers, you’re going to get lazy workers with bad attitudes.
The queue system is infuriating at this store. Everyone forms a single queue down the aisle with shampoos and medicines. They queue here for both the main checkout and self checkout. But most people are too polite to walk past those in the queue for cigarettes for the self checkouts to get much use.
I personally go down the magazine aisle and skip the queue. There’s normally 4 - 5 self scan checkouts available even when there’s a queue down the store. The staff do make calls for self scan, but with such a tiny aisle it’s hard to get past others.
Ultimately it’s not a great store, and I only use it when I can’t be bothered to walk to Sainsbury’s in Whitechapel instead.
Art showcase in and outside of Sainsbury’s shop.
Drawings has been created at home and placed in Sainsbury’s supermarket shop. Most drawings has been placed by the selling items due to relationship to the concept meanings of drawing and product. Character in the drawings represents chaotic person. Was inspired by shrink moment of Lockdown in London.
By the entrance of the shop is “ Invisible- homeless man” sculpture/ installation, made of metal wire. Sculpture represents contemporary moment of covid outbreak, due to financially problems some of people becomes homeless in England. Also, homeless people are non-seen for some other people -they don’t look at them and trying to be aware of them. I was inspired by the homeless people, which is always sitting by Sainsbury’s shop entrance.
Unfortunately lately I'm noticing a lot of missing selection compared to some months ago.
Overall good and functional.
Great staff.
Walk the extra mile and go to the large Sainsbury’s by Whitechapel.
When you ask someone for help you have to repeat “excuse me” several times and their customer service is terrible when you get their attention. No staff ever at the tills to reduce queuing time or help people struggling with self check outs. Often the wrong prices labelled for products but then so much effort to get a refund/exchange that not even worth doing so.
Only positive is that the selection is good for a small shop.
