Really wish I could give fewer than one star. Having had a really positive first take away a couple of months ago, followed up with an order for my family on 30th July. The meal came to nearly £50 and was almost completely inedible. EVERYTHING was so over-seasoned, and salty, that we all ended up drinking copious amounts of water that night. We are not unaccustomed to oriental or other spicy food, this was just as if somebody had spilled a whole tub of salt into all the food.

The complaint however is not about the food, as foul and inedible it was, I visited the website and sent an email to the email address published on the site, nearly a week ago (they promise a reply within 24 hours) and got ZERO response. This lack of caring about customers in many ways is worse than the terrible food. Avoid these people at all costs, really disappointed after our first visit which was very nice.

Recent order via Uber Eats. Had the worst beef teriyaki i've ever had. Really dry and tasted like it had been burned. Tried to contact via their website, got no response. Left a review via Uber Eats which Chao Chao responded to and asked me to get in touch via email so they "could make this right". Emailed again and have heard nothing.
Two stars as previously they have been fine. This order was a real disappointment.

Used to love the menu here but recently delivery has been unreliable and there are only 1-2 things on the menu that we like now (bring back Thai curries). Other dishes have arrived incomplete or unappetising. They seem to be more focused on burgers.

Took money but couldn't deliver. Unable to refund via the website I paid (still waiting for the refund) "manager" was rude and wouldn't give name. I would avoid at all costs (and lets face it, theirs are pretty high anyway)

I've had better service in McDonalds at 2am

Doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Rude? Ha, understatement that. Not only did it take an hour for my food but the waitress then spills a drink all over me. I’d understand if there was a tray full and she dropped it accidentally but this was no accident. Walked past, winked at my boyfriend and “stumbled”. Red wine all over me. When the order finally arrives, the food is wrong and theres a red lipstick mark on my man’s steak.. home wreckers with a 2 star hygiene rating..

Myself and a group of friends ordered from uber eats. It took an hour and a half to arrive when uber eats stated it would arrive within half an hour. I can't review my friends meals but I ordered chicken chow mein and was unfortunately disappointed. The chicken was nicely cooked but overall it was dry and extremely salty.

Took 45 minutes to arrive even though we live in the same town. Ordered a lot of food however a katsu curry was sent instead of a sweet and sour dish. Called to ask for correct order to be sent and after waiting for the woman on the phone to put me on hold 3 to 4 times she then tells me they will make it but only if I collect it. They refused to deliver the order as it is only one item! They messed up and refused to rectify the problem. We spent £36.90 and it was all pretty rubbish to be honest. Told I can get a refund through deliveroo, great...but what do I eat for tea once I have waited until 9pm to be given the wrong order.
The tofu was slimy, the rice boring, dry chicken and soggy gyoza.
First and LAST time we will be ordering from this shambles of a place.

Went to Chao Chao a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised. We first visited in the early days after they opened, they were still finding their feet I believe because things have improved massively since then. The interior is gorgeous now, the service has always been friendly but the atmosphere is much more inviting (now) if you wish to eat in. Plus the food was fresh and packed with flavour. Definitely give them a try if you haven't been yet.

** Update - I have had many delicious meals from Chao Chao since they opened but our last visit was disappointing. They apparently changed their Donburi bowls and not for the better. I usually get the teriyaki bowl which always came with nicely coated and slightly crispy chicken bites, however the last one I got from their new recipe was barely coated in sauce and limp (steamed) chicken. So disappointing as their original dish was perfect. Why did you guys change it???!!!

(See picture for what our last Donburi chicken looked like)....
