I’ve had several festive afternoon teas this month but this one beat all the others for both quality and quantity. The scones were really delicious (as was everything else!) and the staff were very attentive and friendly too. The tea could have been a little hotter, but extra hot water was provided on demand.

Cheap and cheerful but in a good way. It's nice to find a basic cafe doing decent food and cakes that isn't trying to be fancy.

Great for a cheap Sunday lunch or a lunchtime bite. Good cakes and they've just started doing great ice-cream too.
Some nice outdoor space when the weather is fine, very close to Durham to escape the city and perfectly placed on the railway paths for bikes and walkers.
Dog friendly.

My friend introduced me to the delights of their Sunday dinner takeaway. The portions were amazing. The vegetables were many and delicious. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were lovely and the gravy, proper gravy, truly scrumptious! I had the beef, and there was so much, I am having a lovely beef sandwich today.
I am impressed by the quality and grateful they are offering this service, and thankful that I and my friend are able to support a local, hard working and worthwhile business.

Wow what an amazing place this is....... Last weekend we ordered afternoon tea for my dad's birthday the variety of choice and amount that was given was unbelievable. I ordered again this weekend for myself and friend again it was worth every penny. Definately recommend afternoon tea. A huge huge thank you to Melanie and her team we will be ordering again very soon. Rated 5 stars. Many thanks Allison

What a hidden gem. We came across this place while walking the dog . Small seating area inside and a nice terrace. Outdoor seating has canopies to keep off the rain. Dogs are welcome. There's a range of home made food, lovely hot n cold sandwiches. Cakes and scones. The afternoon tea looks fab, really must try it. The service is definately "with a smile". This is one of those places that is easy to visit, no need to dress up, just drop in as part of your dog walk. I'll certainly be back again and again 😊

Nice food and pretty location. I ordered some food from the counter, the menu is for afternoon tea, later noticed other people having food from that menu but not as part of afternoon tea. That isn't advertised. Is not always open during the times stated

Way overpriced. Sausages were very poor quality. I've had better at a greasy spoon cafe for a lot less. Also tried visiting again recently only to find out that they were closed despite signs saying they were open 7 days a week. As another reviewer has said, take down your signs if you're not open.
