My wife is a great supporter of charity shops. On a recent outing to Epping we visited, among others, the Cancer Research charity shop, a charity close to our hearts, after visiting various clothes outlets along the high Street. The date was 20/8/ 21. My wife saw a jacket in there that caught her eye and tried it on as she had done in the other clothes shop, “Fat Face” the staff in fat face were delightful and professional, and had no issues with her trying on the items she had chosen, sadly the same could not be said for the male assistant in the Cancer Research Epping High St branch. Who bellowed “you’re not allowed to try the clothes on ! “I politely informed him that there were no signs requesting that, to which he angrily replied as he furiously pointed to a sign on the changing room door, “there it is”. I can only assume he had difficulty in reading as the sign explained that the changing room was temporarily closed, which could have been for a number of reasons and given that all the clothes outlets we have visited since restrictions were eased have now opened their changing facilities and are allowing people to try on clothing we found very strange. This man was an incredibly rude individual and woefully inadequate ambassador for such a wonderful charity. Needless to say we left the shop and the charity had lost a minimum of £25 pounds. I’m sure this isn’t the case in all their shops. But there are other charity shops along the High St in Epping and we spent out money there.
