Had a lovely trip to this station.. I took the train ride from bury. Lovely traditional station with old bags on show. Traditional crossing here and classic bridge over the railway.
Great sport to just see the stream train.

£8.50 return journey for adults to bury. Kids were cheaper and they do an OAP discount.
Journey was about 20mins each way on a wonderful stream train.

Cracking day out on the East Lancashire Railway - great volunteers keep it going and it's clear they enjoy what they do. I got on at Ramsbottom and did both directions. They stop at some of the stations long enough for you to get off and have a look at the stations a bit more closely.

Nice scenery. The volunteers deserve a lot of credit for keeping railway preservation alive. Some exotic steam power; I enjoyed a southbound run behind City of Wells. A fantastic collection of diesels too which get a fair bit of running on the line.

I only had time for the southbound run on my visit to Bury only. The gradients seem to be in the opposite direction so I’d recommend a northbound run to get the locos working hard, and also on one of the services which takes the ‘ski jump’ over to Heywood.

Had the pleasure of attending a black tie dinner behind a GWR pannier tank engine. The entire experience is spot on. Met with a glass of bubbly, canapés a plenty, time to inspect the engine. They even allowed people on the footplate, very unusual! The meal was first class and a good selection of drinks available. An absolutely fantastic evening. The only fault is that the entrance is not through the ticket office (where many people were waiting) and no signs to advise where to go.

We had a lovely family day out on this lovely, well maintained railway line. The staff are all absolutely lovely, friendly and very helpful. Chandra Law at Ramsbottom was especially pleasant, what a lovely lady!
We visited with 2 small children, a pram and elderly parents and the help we received getting on and off the trains was great. I really can't speak highly enough of the people.
There is a cafe on every, or almost every, station with coffee and snacks. Some stations have really nice looking lunch spots but we didn't try these as we took a picnic.

Unfortunately the steam train was not working as we have been told that it needs for some repairs.
Diesel train was being in use instead of steam. At any rate it was a nice experience
