We’ve been past the Marc Bolan memorial site loads of times in the car, but didn’t realise there was more to it than you can see from the road. Don’t access it from the main road as we did, it’s not the safest thing to do. You can get to it from the other side.

We found it a well maintained and lovely tribute to the late Marc Bolan as well as celebrating the history and music.

This is Without Doubt a Very Fitting Tribute to the Late Marc Bolan, for fans of his, and his Band T.Rex.... a Special place to come and pay your Respect, the Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter, was a Pioneer of the Glam Rock movement in the early 1970s. Bolan was posthumously inducted into the Rock,n,Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 as a member of T.Rex.... He rose to fame in the Late 60,s as the Founder and member of the Pyschedelic Folk band Tyrannosaurus Rex,with whom he released 4 Critically Acclaimed Albums and had one minor hit with " Debora "... Bolan had started as an Acoustic Singer- writer before heading into electric music, prior to the Recording of T.Rex's first Single... Ride a White Swan ...which went to No.2 in the UK Singles Chart....

Its a beautiful memorial and everyone leaves beautiful messages. Its an honour to have been able to see it. Its a quiet little space and you can leave messages or flowers and items like that.

The steps are a bit high for us original fans these days. Lots of memorabilia and pictures to peruse. There is now a crash barrier to protect the visitor from the traffic.

Reputedly the exact location on Gipsy Lane where Marc Bolan (Mark Feld) died in 1977 as a car passenger.
A well tended commemorative shrine with an idealised “Byronic” bust of Bolan, brass plaques, memorial and a bulletin board.
But it’s the “pilgrim” tributes, notes and keepsakes that add a veneer of romanticism, enchantment and heartfelt pathos here.

Really sign of the love that still holds strong for Marc. Well tended and looked after. Be careful which route you take to visit though as it involves crossing a busy road.
