The Great Tower

A beautiful place more than the eyes can see 👀. Lots of history.

Went to Dover Castle today and absolutely loved it there! So many extraordinary views! Was quite interesting to learn about the history of the castles there and the history of the United Kingdom!

The view of Dover in all directions from the top is excellent. Involves taking a few flights of winding stone steps up to the top. There are various corridors branching out from the path that lead into medieval style rooms and you can learn some history from. The top visiting site at Dover castle!

It is well worth going into Arthur's Hall prior to entering the Great Hall as it gives you a grounding of the history of Henry II who commissioned its construction. I was lucky when I entered the Great Tower to be questioned by an actress in the role of Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine (Henry's wife). The scale of the tower and its superb condition made this the best part of the castle to visit.

The focal point of Dover Castle is of course the castle itself. The vast majority of which remains intact allowing you to explore large portions at your own leisure.

Great views from the top overlooking Dover and out to sea. Well worth the visit.

Do be aware there are a considerable number of steps to access the first section of the castle.

The view up here is the best, you can even see France during sunny days.
I never realized how close the UK and France are before reaching the top of this castle.

Part of the Dover Castle. I could not climb due to my disability but my 65yr old husband went up, and said the views are magnificent and the climb is easy.

I do like a castle but this is probably the best I've been to. Recommend
