Great place to walk around for a few hours looking at all the gardens, lakes and buildings. Plus green space for a picnic if you fancied it. Very clean and tidy and clearly very well maintained.
Dog friendly throughout the grounds and in the shop. Some areas stated on lead only. No dogs allowed in the house. Didn't use the cafe (assuming no dogs allowed) but did get a tasty hot chocolate & latte.

Very nice gardens to explore for a day out.
Dog friendly (on lead) the only areas we couldn't take the dog were the cafe and inside the house.
Good parking, be aware that the speed bumps on the mile long driveway are fairly severe.
Very friendly and helpful staff encountered throughout.

Went to the old fashioned fun fair with my daughter's. Staff on the gate were really friendly and directed me to the parking for the disabled was great as it was right next to the fairground.

We all had a lovely time especially the girls although taking a family with small children would be quite expensive as the rides were £3 each.

Visited whilst the rhododendrons were in full bloom - beautiful. Loved the Japanese garden and waterfalls. The whole place is idyllic. Plenty of parking. On site cafe, which we didn't visit but we did enjoy an ice cream from the ice cream van. Would definitely recommend.

Haven't been here for years and cannot believe I have not been back sooner. Wonderful grounds, lakes and views. Numerous chill out and seating areas and a great cafe selling lovely drinks and food. Saw it on Sherwood and needed to see when e visited family.

Abbey ruins & historic house set in acres of grounds.
There is easy access to the grounds and plenty of parking. A large pond, waterfall and different garden areas to visit. Also a gift shop & cafe on site.
The Japanese garden was beautiful however the formal gardens were in need of some love & attention.
All in all a good day out.

My husband & I visit Newstead Abbey regularly & it is a beautiful, peaceful place. The grounds are lovely, the Japanese garden fabulous & the house is very interesting. Newstead Abbey was a priory foe Augustinian monks in the 12th century & when you walk round the cloisters you can imagine the monks walking round them praying. This weekend there was a 40's event which was brilliant. It is only £6 per car to enter the grounds & £12 to go round the House but if you buy a season ticket for £50 you can visit the lovely gardens & House as many times as you like. Love this place 💕

Beautiful and tranquil place in which to have a wander. Many interlocking pathways and a variety of garden areas to explore. My favourite is the Japanese Garden with its numerous waterfalls, sculptures, little stone bridges and clever planting...very atmospheric. The Poet's Garden is a walled garden then there's the Spanish Garden, large pond, lake and paths leading off into the surrounding countryside too. There are toilets and a tea room close to the main building.
